George Clooney’s three-word message for Trump after president’s brutal takedown

George Clooney’s three-word message for Trump after president’s brutal takedown

George Clooney has claimed he isn’t bothered by Donald Trump calling him a ‘fake movie actor.’

Trump criticized the 63-year-old Oscar-winning actor for his New York Times opinion piece calling for Joe Biden to withdraw as the Democratic presidential nominee.

‘So now fake movie actor George Clooney, who never came close to making a great movie, is getting into the act,’ Trump said at the time.

‘He’s turned on Crooked Joe like the rats they both are.’

However Clooney — whose unlikely marriage confession sparked fan alarm on Monday — claims he’s unfazed by the comment.

‘I don’t care,’  Clooney said in a new interview with CBS Mornings.

‘I’ve known Donald Trump for a long time. My job is not to please the President of the United States. My job is to try and tell the truth when I can and when I have the opportunity.’

‘I am well aware of the idea that people will not like that… people will criticize that. Elon Musk has weighed in [about me],’ George continued. ‘That is their right. It’s my right to say the other side.’

In March, Trump slammed Clooney as a ‘second rate movie star’ as he hit out at the Hollywood legend for comments he made on 60 Minutes.

Clooney appeared on the news program to promote his Broadway debut as renowned journalist Edward R Murrow in Good Night and Good Luck when he took aim at the Trump administration.

Clooney spoke about his decision to drop his support for Biden – accusing the Democratic Party of ‘cowardice’ and covering up the ex-president’s ailing health while claiming he was forced to ‘tell the truth’ in a bombshell op-ed calling for him to step down.

The president quickly responded on Truth Social to blast Clooney and the role he played in Biden’s demise.

‘Why would the now highly-discredited 60 Minutes be doing a total “puff piece” on George Clooney, a second-rate movie “star” and failed political pundit,’ he wrote.

‘He fought hard for Sleepy Joe’s election, and then, right after the Debate, dumped him like a dog. Later, I ᴀssume under orders from the Obama camp, pushed all out for “Kamala,” only to soon realize that this was not going to work out too well.

’60 Minutes even fraudulently inserted fake answers into her disastrous interview, and just before Election Day, in one of the most embarrᴀssing and dishonest events in broadcast history,’ Trump said, reiterating claims he made in his $10 billion lawsuit against the network.

‘And now George Clooney again? His press agent should be making a fortune!!!’

The actor was asked point-blank about his decision to publish a damning op-ed in the New York Times over the summer enтιтled ‘I Love Joe Biden. But We Need a New Nominee’ – and whether he would still write the essay if he had known Trump would win against Harris.

'I've known Donald Trump for a long time. My job is not to please the President of the United States. My job is to try and tell the truth when I can and when I have the opportunity,' he said

‘Yeah, I’ll make it kinda easy,’ said Clooney, a lifelong Democrat and the son of a journalist.

‘I was raised to tell the truth.’

He explained that he saw Biden at a Hollywood fundraiser in June 2024 ‘and I was surprised’.

‘I feel as if there was a lot of profiles and cowardice in my party through all of that, and I was not proud of that and also I believed I had to tell the truth,’ Clooney said.

He reaffirmed that ‘I’ve always liked Joe Biden and I like him still,’ but said that his obvious incapacities made it impossible to defend his record.

Elsewhere in Monday’s interview, the actor made an unusual marriage confession. Clooney has been married to human rights attorney Amal Clooney for over ten years, and the movie star is still standing by his claim that they have never had an argument.

The actor confessed to Gayle King on CBS Mornings that he and Amal, 47, have yet to ʙuтт heads, raising questions among fans.

George recalled his last visit to the show, noting that the last time he appeared he also said the same thing.

‘I remember we were here with you once before and I remember we said we’d never had an argument. We still haven’t. We’re trying to find something to fight about!’ the movie star said to Gayle.

Adding: ‘I feel so extraordinarily lucky to have met his incredible woman. I feel as if I hit the jackpot. There isn’t a day that goes by where I don’t think I’m the luckiest man in the world. So it’s great.’

One person took to X, formerly Twitter to speculate that the couple ‘probably have separate bedrooms.’

Another fan speculated on the separate rooms, while someone else shared a meme of Will Ferrell in Elf with the famous line from the film: ‘You sit on a throne of lies.’

The confession that they’ve never had an argument was first uttered by George in 2022 while on CBS Mornings.

At the time, the actor said it was ‘easy’ having a strong marriage with Amal.

Amal, who was also on hand for the interview, ‘It’s maddening to some of our friends. I have a cousin, actually, every time we see him he’s like, his first question is, “So have you had an argument yet?” before he says hello.’

George and Amal got engaged in April 2014 and got their marriage license in August 2014; they married on September 27, 2014 at Ca’ Farsetti in Italy.

The couple share seven year old twins Ella and Alexander.
