Craig Revel Horwood is used to being watched by more than eight million fans as he judges Strictly Come Dancing performances.

But his one-man show to promote his album Revelations: Songs Boys Don’t Sing has been less well received – forcing him to sell tickets cheaply to drum up interest.

For tonight’s show at Birmingham Town Hall’s Symphony Hall, Revel Horwood, 60, has struggled to sell out the 2,262 tickets, costing £39 to £89.

With fewer than half the seats sold last night, tickets were going for just £11 on the seat-filling website Show Film First.

A source involved with the show said: ‘Craig’s catchphrase is “Fab-u-lous!”, but sales aren’t quite living up to that in places. 

‘The Strictly tours can be so popular. Look at some of the professionals – they sell out every night.’

Revel Horwood’s performance at the Theatre Royal in St Helens on Thursday was only two-thirds full.

And at The Hawth in Crawley, West SusSєx, the circle balcony does not appear to be in use, and half the seats in the stalls are still unbooked.

A source close to him said: ‘It’s standard practice across the industry and happens with many artists – Craig is not unique in this regard!

‘His tour is doing well and selling lots of tickets overall.’

Meanwhile, it has emerged that he is standing by former Strictly co-star Giovanni Pernice, who quit following bullying accusations from actress Amanda Abbington, which he denies.

Revel Horwood told the i paper: ‘I am still friends with Giovanni. One complaint was that he trod on a toe. Well, I’m sorry, but that is going to happen.’
