The future is certainly bright for newly-minted Oscar winner Mikey Madison, though it seems she won’t be joining one of the biggest movie franchises.

The 26-year-old beat out Hollywood A-listers Demi Moore (The Substance) and Cynthia Erivo (Wicked) to win her first Best Actress Oscar for her indie darling Anora.

While she has yet to announce her follow-up to Anora, a new report reveals she turned down the chance to join the latest in an iconic film series.

She would have even joined a major star – Ryan Gosling – who is attached to the project, for ᴅᴇᴀᴅpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy.

The news also came a few months after she spoke about not having an intimacy coordinator on the set of Anora. 

What is this mysterious franchise she cast aside? It was none other than the Star Wars franchise, according to a new report from Variety.

The report revealed that she pᴀssed on an unknown role in the film, though no details about the character were given.

Very little is known about the Star Wars film – including the тιтle at the moment – though it is said to be a stand-alone story.

It was also said to not be connected to the Skywalker Saga, the nine-film series that includes the original Star Wars trilogy (A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi), the prequel trilogy (The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith) and the most-recent sequel trilogy (The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker).

While Gosling is still attached to star, very little has been said about his character at this time.

Levy will direct the film from a screenplay written by Jonathan Tropper (This Is Where I Leave You, The Adam Project).

Levy will also produce through his 21 Laps production company alongside LucasFilm president Kathleen Kennedy.

The director has been developing the project since 2022, though it isn’t clear when production may begin.

However, if they’re starting to try and round out the cast, filming may be happening sooner rather than later.

If it does go into production this year, it will follow The Mandalorian & Grogu, which recently wrapped filming and is slated for a May 22, 2026 release.

She went on to star in Monsters, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, 2022’s Scream and the 2023 film All Souls.

The actress most recently played Judith Weinstein in the Apple TV Plus miniseries Lady in the Lake.
