Home gym
Fern Britton shocked fans when she showed off her incredible weight loss transformation this week as she shared a mirror selfie while working out in her home gym.
The presenter, 67, looked amazing in a pink long sleeved top and a pair of fitted black cycling shorts as she showcased her weight loss.
Fern has had quite the journey with her weight, having a gastric band procedure back in 2006 which saw her go from a size 22 to 12 having shed five stone.
She has successfully managed to keep the weight off and continued to slim down since with her dedication to working out in her home gym, taking on the Couch to 5k challenge which led to her becoming a regular runner and cutting out one hugely-unhealthy habit.
So here MailOnline takes a look at how Fern has achieved her jaw-dropping transformation:

Fern was all smiles as she snapped her selfie on Wednesday while showing off her transformation after lifting a number of different weights, from dumbbells to a bar with weights placed on either end.
As she has kick-started her new ‘fitness regime’, Fern looks to have changed one of her bedrooms into a home gym as a number of different weights sat on the floor in front of her.
Promoting her new book in her slim-gym snap, she penned: ‘REPOWERING after a sloth like winter… #TheOlderIGet out in paperback now’.
In a video from January, Fern revealed she was started a new fitness regime which includes running, cycling, walking and lifting weights.

Fans rushed to the comments to say Fern was looking ‘fantastic’ as she continues her fitness journey
She said: ‘I’ve started running again and gone back to couch to 5K.
‘New year, new fitness regime. Later on in the year I’ll be walking a small leg of the south west coast parts which will take about a week to do.
‘I’ll be meeting my friend, who will be doing the whole 360 miles of coast, but I’m in training doing some walks throughout the week and wearing a rucksack with some weight in it and wearing my boots to wear them in.
‘I shall start running again, two or three times a week and I’m going to start cycling again and will do some weights to get my arms and shoulder a bit stronger again.’
Couch to 5k
Fern also completed the Couch to 5k challenge ahead of her Celebrity Big Brother stint last year and told fans it was ‘a fantastic thing to do’.
She is also a fan of bike rides, yoga and long walks.
Following Couch to 5k, the author stuck to running three times a week for around 45 minutes each time.
Once given the OK to lift weights again following a shoulder injury, the presenter said she was also keen to get back to the gym.
She has previously said of the challenge: ‘The slow and steady approach is a great confidence builder and soon I was running just a few minutes more each time and my legs were getting stronger.’

Gastric band
Back in 2006, she underwent gastric band surgery but didn’t go public about her procedure until two years later.
Speaking with the Daily Mail at the time she said: ‘My cholesterol was high. My knee joints were starting to hurt. I wasn’t able to run. I was approaching 50 and I thought, ‘Do you know what? I’m going to be different when I’m 50’.
‘I was cycling like mad and nothing was happening.’
Fern went on to say that her GP thought she was ‘a good candidate for a band’, so therefore went ahead with the surgery.
‘I needed to get healthy. I wasn’t unhappy the way I was; I was unhealthy. I’d been recovering from having children, having a divorce, all those emotional things,’ she added.

She is now a regular on the bike and shares videos after her rides
More recently, Fern told Woman and Home Magazine how her gastric band procedure still had an effect.
She shared: ‘Although my gastric band is an old one, it still has its powers. Good food finds it hard to get through, but you can still eat chocolate and drink wine.’
‘I was also smoking like a trooper. I put on more and more weight. I never talk about numbers, but it was enough, and nothing fitted.
‘I ended up in very stretchy baggy clothes for about a year.’
Fern went on to say that at the time she believed she ‘looked perfectly fine’, but in hindsight ‘was nutty as a fruit cake’.
‘I wasn’t mad, but I was simply coping,’ she added.
Quit smoking and diet
To improve her diet, she began eating more protein and vegetables, choosing healthier options over unhealthy snacks.
She acknowledged the benefit, saying previously: ‘I once again found the feeling of satiety.
‘The thing in your brain that tells you that you are full. I’d been first class at overriding that for quite a while.’
Fern added: ‘If we can manage to consume a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins and healthy fats, while minimising processed foods, sugars and excessive salt, we’ll be doing ourselves a real favour in the long term.’
Late last year Fern opened up about lockdown when some traumatic events led to her overhauling her lifestyle.

The presenter found herself entering an ‘era of indolence’ after the UK was plunged into a national lockdown following the deaths of both her parents and the breakdown of her marriage.
The TV star lost her mother Ruth in April 2018 before her dad Tony Britton also pᴀssed at the end of the following year.
Then in 2020 she announced her split from husband Phil Vickery after almost 20 years together.
Speaking to The Mirror, Fern candidly explained: ‘My mum died and a year later my father died and the next year my marriage died.
‘I fell into this era of indolence I call it, where I just started just lying in bed later and later and later.’
Fern previously revealed that one night in lockdown her smoking habit came to a head as she decided to quit after too many cigarettes led to her pulling over mid car ride to throw up in a field
Fern revealed she soon found herself struggling to find the point of getting out of bed and began smoking, drinking and eating badly.
The star then noticed the physical side effects starting to have an effect on her health as she realised she had gained weight and was having problems breathing.
She added: ‘Looking back I was in a very bad place and gradually I started to pull myself out of it.’
Fern even revealed that one night it all came to a head as she decided to quit smoking after too many cigarettes led to her pulling over mid car ride to throw up in a field.
She now has regular therapy sessions and is exercising again.
New relationship

And last year despite her body transformation she told The Mail the thought of her new man seeing her without clothes was ‘daunting’.
In October, she said: ‘It’s daunting at any stage of life to get naked with someone new. These days my body looks as if it could do with a good iron or perhaps even better a steam press.
‘So, as I contemplate seeking a new relationship in my 60s, that’s a whole added layer of pressure. I have wrinkles, wobbly thighs and ʙosoмs that I roll up like a Swiss roll to tuck them in my bra. Could I display all this to a new partner? I genuinely don’t know.
‘Although I see it as an important part of my re-powering, I find the prospect of a new relationship terrifying as well as tempting.
‘I imagine what it would be like to have someone to talk to and walk with. Someone with whom to share hobbies, hold hands and maybe… gulp… get intimate.’
