He soared to fame alongside his comedy partner Bob Mortimer after the duo’s Channel 4 series Vic Reeves Big Night Out made its debut in 1990.
While only fifteen episodes aired across its two seasons, the show quickly became a cult favourite, and sH๏τ Vic and Bob into the comedic limelight.
However Vic Reeves is not the star’s real name and is actually just an alter ego.
His real name is in fact James Moir, but he goes by Jim.
In 2023 Jim explained he would be ditching his stage name as he shut down rumours him and Bob would be returning to work together again.
He explained: ‘We’ve had offers from everywhere. But I’m not doing any more. I’ve given up. I’ve done that.’

Fans have previously expressed their shock after learning of Jim’s real name as they took to Twitter to share their surprise.
They penned: ‘Today I learned that Vic Reeves is not his real name’; ‘Didnt know Vic Reeves wasn’t his real name!’;
‘Why has it took me over 50 years to realize Vic Reeves isn’t his real name’.
Vic and Bob’s show quickly gained popularity for its wacky array of characters, including Les, The Man With The Stick and The Ponderers, with their iconic line ‘you just couldn’t let it lie’ becoming a well-known catchphrase.
The pair went on to host a quiz show called Shooting Stars on BBC2 from 1995 until 1997, before returning for a three series reboot in 2008.
However last year Bob admitted the two had drifted apart as he said he wished he had ‘done more’ with Jim.
Speaking to Richard Herring on his RHLSTP podcast, he confessed that he wished he did more with his former co-star.
‘I got on great with Jim, but no, we’re both doing our own little things at the moment’, he said.

‘We had a lovely time, but you get older.
‘I wish I’d done more with Jim, you know, when we were younger, because now, we have drifted apart.
‘As I get older, I think of all the lovely people I’ve known and don’t see them anymore – it just seems to happen.’
Their slow breakdown of their duo has been no secret as Jim first admitted their separation in April, 2023.
Jim told The Times: ‘We never really speak much. Bob and I have never been ones for talking on the phone.
He added: ‘We’ll see him now and then and have a chat about things.’
