Netflix has snapped up a dystopian BBC drama dubbed a ‘breathtaking tour de force of television’.
The science-fiction show, Years And Years, was first aired as a limited series by the broadcaster back in 2019 and it’s perfect for Black Mirror fans.
It followed a typical British family, the Lyons, in Manchester set between 2019 and 2034 as their word is ‘made unstable by politics, the economy and technology’, according to a synopsis.
All six episodes of the miniseries, which stars Jessica Hynes, Emma Thompson, Russell Tovey and Rory Kinnear, have been added to the streaming platform.
Years And Years has received rave reviews since its release in 2019, including from Digital Spy, who called it a ‘breathtaking tour de force of television’.
With an impressive 89% score on Rotten Tomatoes, the show has been praised by fans.

‘This was a fantastic series. I don’t usually like sci-fi or near-future but this was superb. I’m still thinking about it almost 4 years later.’
‘A very realistic and therefore terrifying cautionary tale of where we might be going in the near future. Or, Black Mirror done right.’
‘Unnerving. Predictions of the future were easily within the realm of the possible.’
‘A harsh share of reality. A series that generates great impact, performances and remarkable characters. Real content and a director without fear.’
‘Great show. Think Black Mirror meets This Is Us.’
Though not everyone felt positively about the show and one penned: ‘It’s chaotic and impossible to follow.’
‘Too much soap opera, not enough dystopia. Not interesting enough to keep watching.’

Another sci-fi series compared to Black Mirror was added to Amazon Prime earlier this year.
The futuristic drama is divided into 10 episodes, each involving a different ensemble cast and plotline, drawing unsurprising comparisons with the hit Netflix show.
Amazon Prime subscribers have been hooked by Electric Dreams, with fans citing the tense yet plausible dystopian storylines, as well as the star-studded cast.
The 2017 series ᴀssumed an anthology format, similar to Black Mirror, and was based on the sci-fi thriller writings of 20th century author Philip K Dick.
Both Years And Years and Black Mirror are available to stream on Netflix now.
