Netflix fans were left furious after an acclaimed crime series won’t see another season because ‘it’s too expensive’.
The popular thriller, Mindhunter, first aired in 2017 and has seen two seasons following FBI agents Holden Ford (Jonathan Groff) and Bill Tench (Holt McCallany) as they delved into the world of serial killers.
Created by Joe Penhall, it also stars Anna Torv, Cameron Britton and Sonny Valicenti amongst others.
However, in an interview with Le Journal du Dimanche back in 2023, Mindhunter producer David Fincher revealed there wouldn’t be another season of the beloved show.
He said: ‘I’m very proud of the first two seasons. But it’s a particularly expensive show, and in Netflix’s eyes, we didn’t attract a large enough audience to justify such an investment.
‘I don’t blame them; they took risks to launch the series, gave me the means to do what I dreamed of with Mank, and they allowed me to venture down new paths with The Killer. It’s a chance to be able to work with people capable of daring.
