‘I got hit in the eye by a dying clicker and I got a black eye. Second season I got a proper bust lip [from another fight scene].

‘I love it. I really love it. I’m very good at getting injured just enough that I can keep working and not stop.’

Bella added of their previous physical roles: ‘Horse riding I learnt for Game of Thrones. They gave me way too much training for that. But I did train again for this season.

‘There’s boxing, some Brazilian jiu jitsu – you can be small and take someone down.’

On the episode Bella showed this off by performing a move on Jonathan and throwing him to the ground.

Elsewhere Bella discussed the next series of The Last Of Us and the popularity of their co-star Pedro.

Bella said they get on really well, explaining: ‘Thankfully we do. He’s really wonderful and funny and I can understand why the whole world has a crush on him.

‘The amount of people who come up to me flustered… he’s made quite an impression.’

Bella added of the secrecy around the show’s plot: ‘I really enjoy keeping the secrets.

‘It’s good for me [as I can’t keep my own secrets]. People ask me very specific questions. I say no to everything. I should start saying yes to everything.’

Series two will see Joel (Pedro) and Ellie’s ‘collective past catch up to them, drawing them into conflict with each other and a world even more dangerous and unpredictable than the one they left behind’, according to a synopsis.

Gabriel Luna is also returning to the cast as Tommy while Rutina Wesley will once again portray Maria.

Like the video game’s Part II, season two is bound to raise the ire of fans of the first season as it upends alliances and introduces new characters.

Though the first instalment rose to critical acclaim, the show’s co-creators Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann have hinted they there may not be endless series to come.

‘One of the notes that I resent the most is ‘We loved this thing — more of it, please!” Craig told Variety.

‘You love it because that’s the right amount of it. When you do more, what makes it special starts to dissipate. It becomes comfort food. And if there’s one thing about The Last of Us, it is not comfortable.’

While Neil added: ‘I hope this doesn’t sound arrogant. But I think you have to have a certain level of success to have the confidence to do what we’re doing, both in the game and in the show.

‘Because on paper, it looks so risky. But this is where I love working with Craig, because he thinks like me.

‘Sometimes, you have a feeling the story has to be this and only this, and you just have to commit.’

Neil also talked about not having the element of surprise because the show is based on a popular video game.

He said: ‘A lot of people who played the [first] game understood that Joel’s daughter was going to die very quickly in the first episode. Those people weren’t surprised. They felt it because it’s the journey.’

Neil also praised Craig, who created the video game, for his willingness to expand on his ideas on screen.
