Hilary Swank famously froze her eggs at age 37, became pregnant at age 47, and welcomed her first children (twins) at age 48 in 2023 but she does wish she’d started younger.

‘I’m not saying I actively waited until 47,’ the now 50-year-old explained in her swimsuit-clad Women’s Health cover story on Tuesday.

‘But that was a magical time in my life, when it all culminated. It was the right time for a myriad of reasons.’

Hilary said the benefit of being a new parent at her age is she’s ‘much more patient.’

‘I’m a very different parent than I would’ve been, even in my early 40s,’ Swank admitted.

‘I’m much more understanding. I am much more, I think, interested in a different way than I would’ve been. I’m really interested in their brains. I’m fascinated about what makes them tick.

‘And I have my career that’s already established, so I’m not divided. I’m able to really sink in and be present with them and be a hands-on parent.’

This Wednesday, the two-time Oscar winner and her second husband Philip Schneider will celebrate the second birthdays of their daughter Aya and son Ohm.

The married couple of six years – collectively known as ‘Philary’ – own homes in Washington State and Colorado.

Hilary reportedly met the 52-year-old social venture entrepreneur on a blind date in November 2016 – five months after she ended her three-month engagement to former tennis pro, Ruben Torres.

Swank’s prior eight-year marriage to her Quiet Days in Hollywood co-star Chad Lowe ended in 2007.

The Ordinary Angels actress has even found a way to incorporate lifting little Aya and Ohm with her arms while performing three reps of eight ‘Baby’ squats.

‘Working out for me is really lifting two 25lb babies,’ Hilary noted.

‘It’s a squat workout. It’s an arm workout, like, I think I have bigger arms than I’ve had since Million Dollar Baby with these babies. I need to work on my tushy though. I need to work on my triceps. If I could pick up the babies with my triceps, I would have a full-rounded workout.’

Swank marveled: ‘Most people might be like, “Aren’t you worried that you’re now 50 and there’s not a lot of jobs?” I’m like, “No, I have more offers now than I’ve ever had. It’s an incredibly exciting time”‘

Swank continued: ‘Even with the babies, when they’re napping, I have those three hours to get my exercise in and read a script or take a meeting or do an interview.’

Swank – whose go-to workout is tennis and Pilates – maintains a diet that’s dairy-free and ‘mostly vegan’ aside from fish and the occasional elk burger.

‘I think there’s also in being a new mom a lot of people talk about bouncing back but I call it bouncing forward because I don’t want my old body anymore,’ the Nebraska-born beauty said of shedding her baby weight.

‘I love that this was the body that housed and grew these two incredible human beings And I want to honor my new body and not try and get something that was And I want to move forward from here and just honor my body and thank my body for what it achieved.’
