Jack Black returned to host Saturday Night Live for the fourth time over the weekend as he promoted his new project A Minecraft Movie, and the gig provided him with the opportunity to reunite with castmates from another hit film.
Black, 55, decided not to deliver the traditional monologue, and instead opted to rock the audience with a song written especially for the occᴀssion.
As the Tenacious D front man made his way through the audience, sitting in the balcony were three cast members from his 2003 blockbuster hit School of Rock.
Brian Falduto, Rivkah Reyes, and Z Infante were laughing and clapping as Black introduced a marching band to the number.
Reyes, who played music student Katie in the musical comedy shared pH๏τos of herself and her former bandmates in a funky carousel of pH๏τos on Instagram.
‘Had a blast in god’s country @nbcsnl @jackblack,’ she wrote next to the post, riffing off of Morgan Wallen’s explanation for why he abruptly walked off the stage in the good night segment, explaining to his fans he needed to ‘Get me to God’s country.’

‘Thought I spotted yall!’ wrote one fan.

The School of Rock cast reunited in 2023 for the film’s 20th anniversary, and at that time Miranda Cosgrove, who played Summer, spoke to People about her admiration for her former ‘teacher.’
‘I think Jack Black’s amazing,’ Cosgrove says. “He’s kept up with pretty much all of us from the movie since we did it.”

Black’s A Minecraft Movie, inspired by the popular video game, opened at number one over the weekend, pulling in $157 million domestically and another $144 million internationally.
It was the latest in a string of commercial hits for the versatile actor, who also reached the top of the box office in beloved films such as The Super Mario Bros Movie, the Jumanji franchise and the Kung Fu Panda franchise.
In a 2018 interview on IMDB looking back over his lengthy resume, Black said School of Rock was ‘the best film of my career.’
‘This is where all the planets aligned,’ he explained. ‘We had the first reading of it before we even started shooting, where all the kids were cast and we were in New York and we sat down at the table read and we read it out loud and I was, like, “this f-ing rules.”‘
