Lily Collins and her husband Charlie McDowell put on a classy display at the Breakthrough Awards on Saturday after welcoming their first child.
News of the birth was announced in February when Lily took to Instagram to reveal that she and Charlie had become parents through a surrogate. Since then, the proud mum has posted blissful updates on family life on social media.
The Emily in Paris star, 36, wore a long, sparkly black skirt with a black tube top for her glam red carpet appearance on Saturday.
The actress’s skirt was cut at the bottom to show off her legs, which revealed her footwear choice of strappy black high heels.
Her short hair was styled straight and pinned behind her ears as she finished off the look with minimal makeup and silver accessories.
Lily’s classy fit was matched by that of Charlie, 41, who wore a smart black tuxedo and loafers to the event otherwise known as the Oscars of science.

The pair were all smiles as they held hands on the red carpet while posing for the camera.
Announcing the birth of their daughter on Instagram, the couple wrote: ‘Welcome to the centre of our world Tove Jane McDowell.’
‘Words will never express our endless graтιтude for our incredible surrogate and everyone who helped us along the way.’
The grateful post was accompanied by a picture of the youngster, born on January 31, who was dressed in a wooly floral hat and beige jumpsuit.
The post added: ‘We love you to the moon and back again.’
When the couple’s birth choice prompted backlash online, film director Charlie released a statement in defence.
He wrote: ‘Thank you for all the kind messages and love. We are overjoyed and very grateful.
‘In regards to the unkind messages about surrogacy and our path to having a baby – it’s ok to not be an expert on surrogacy.’

Charlie added: ‘It’s ok to not know why someone might need a surrogate to have a child.
‘It’s ok to not know the motivations of a surrogate regardless of what you ᴀssume.
‘And it’s ok to spend less time spewing hateful words into the world, especially in regards to a beautiful baby girl who has brought a lot of love into people’s lives.’
‘That’s all for now because she just pooped and I need to change her diaper.’
Lily subsequently gave her husband’s statement her seal of approval by replying with three white heart emoji.
The couple, who met on the set of Gilded Rage in 2019, have been married since September 2021.
