She was one of the biggest pop stars of the 1990s as a member of a glamorous group whose look defined the age and which sold ten million records worldwide.
And now the star, now 50, has confounded showbiz expectations with her latest career move – MailOnline can reveal she has started working as a burger chef in a north London pub.
But can you work out who she is?
The star and her bandmates also scored five UK number one singles, won two BRIT awards and were household names after first shooting to fame in 1997.
Their fashion sense – including their trademark combat pants – proved hugely influential on the high street and their posters adorned the bedrooms of tens of thousands of teenage boys.
Their love lives – including romantic links to Liam Gallagher, Robbie Williams, Jamie Theakston, Jonny Lee Miller, and Liam Howlett of The Prodigy – made them staples of the gossip columns.
When the band finally drifted in different directions in 2001, she had a stab at a solo singing career before later taking various parts in reality TV shows.
She worked on ITV show The H๏τ Desk alongside presenters Nicole Appleton, Dave Berry and Emma Willis. Then took a role as a reporter on Angela Griffin’s show Angela and Friends.

Later she worked as a judge/mentor on an overseas version of The X Factor.
And finally she took part in Celebrity Masterchef in 2022
She has one child, a girl, Lilyella, now 26, from her relationship with Jamiroquai bᴀssist Stuart Zender from whom she later split in 2006.
She is Melanie Blatt from All Saints!
Which means that that H๏τ Desk co-presenter Nicole Appleton was her former bandmate in All Saints – alongside Nicole’s sister Natalie and Shaznay Lewis.
Melanie was doing her first stint as a celebrity chef at The Londesborough pub in Stoke Newington, north London, on Tuesday night this week.
MailOnline popped along on her first night and watched as she made her professional debut as a chef cooking for an ever busier pub.
It was the launch night of her new residency in the N16 pub’s kitchen set to take place every Tuesday night for the foreseeable future.

But it had only been soft launched, in the sense that it hadn’t been publicised at all by the pub – there was no mention anywhere on the menu of the celebrity in the kitchen – and in fact its only public announcement came in a video posted on Melanie’s Instagram on Sunday.
In fact some visitors appeared to be oblivious to the fact that one of the most famous popstars of the nineties was hard at work in the kitchen.
In fact one diner eating her beef burger was incredulous on being told who had cooked it – and insisted on going over to peer into the kitchen to confirm it.
MailOnline sampled Melanie’s signature beef burger to find that in typical Masterchef fashion this subverts or deconstructs the classic burger by subsтιтuting the usual seared minced steak for slow cooked beef moulded into a patty. This was served in a brioche bun with manchego cheese and pickled red onions and came with a side of fries and a rich gravy dip for £20.
Then there was the companion chicken burger which was similarly presented but this time with jerk flavouring notes – for £19.
Both were very good.
There was also a novelty macaroni cheese burger on her short menu.

We spoke to friends of Melanie who had travelled from Hertfordshire to support her.
One told us: ‘She’s been really hyped about this and has been prepping and practising for days ahead of her debut.
‘We all know she’s a brilliant cook but there’s a big difference from doing it in your own kitchen to being able to produce it to demand on your own for a busy pub.
‘She’s intent on meeting her own high standards and wants this to work so much.’
Indeed it was plain even allowing for the limited view into the kitchen from the tiny serving hatch where she presented her food for bar staff to take to tables that Melanie was furiously concentrating on her timings.
She did pause briefly to pose for a pH๏τo and said: ‘I’m enjoying it but I haven’t got time to chat!’
Among the celebrity friends who congratulated her on her new venture were Lisa Snowen – who pipped her to victory in Celebrity Masterchef. Lisa wrote: ‘Alway want your burgers’
Actress Sadie Frost also sent heart emojis.
Anyone wanting to attend Melanie’s kitchen next Tuesday or in subsequent weeks is encouraged to book in advance on the pub’s website.
A pub worker told us: ‘We kept the first week deliberately low key but we do expect word of mouth publicity and demand to grow a lot.’
