With Season 3 of HBO’s The White Lotus coming to a close on Sunday, actress Aimee Lou Wood is revealing some rather shocking details.
The 31-year-old British actress plays Chelsea, the astrology-loving girlfriend of Rick Hatchett (Walton Goggins) in this new season.
Each season features a predominantly new cast, set at a different location of this fictional luxury resort chain, with Aimee constantly worried about her man Rick.
While Rick is quite distant, taking this trip for more sinister reasons that are uncovered throughout the season, Chelsea befriends Chloe (Charlotte Le Bon) and the Ratliff brothers (Patrick Schwarzenegger and Sam Nivola), even witnessing one of their gay incest trysts.
Wood appeared on Late Night With Seth Meyers on Thursday, where she revealed quite the surprising difference in how her character was originally perceived.
She also revealed the rather astonishing amount of time she has been keeping the secret of who is killed in this weekend’s season finale.

Wood is a native of Manchester in northern England, whose natural accent comes through in the show, but that wasn’t always the case.
The actress revealed that series creator Mike White had initially envisioned the character as an American, and that she had never met her on-screen boyfriend Walton Goggins during the casting process since no chemistry tests were done.

‘Well I think they’ve been looking for Chelsea for a while. And Mike’s very instinctive with his casting. He kind of just is all intuition. We don’t do chemistry tests. Like me and Walton had never met,’ she revealed.
Wood added that ‘the ladies’ – likely referring to Jaclyn (Michelle Monaghan), Kate (Leslie Bibb) and Laurie (Carrie Coon), ‘had never met’ either before filming.
‘It’s all just he trusts that it’s going to work. And so they hadn’t found Chelsea yet. And I think everyone was doing the American accent,’ she said.
She added that, ‘talking about astrology as an American, it starts to feel quite L.A., and it was, like, scorpio. And then, they were like, do one American but do one in her own voice.’
Wood continued, ‘And I think there was something about it made it slightly more off-center and maybe a bit more individual when it was in a Manchester accent.’
The actress also revealed that she has been keeping the secret of who dies in the finale for two whole years now.

When asked if she’s going to be relieved that the secret will finally be out on Sunday night, she said it was, ‘so stressful.’
‘I found out when I was 29 years old. I’m 31 now. That’s how long I’ve been holding that secret, so I need it to be over now,’ Wood said.
She joked that, ‘I’ve got that thing like when you need the loo and you’re in the car and then you see you’ve made it the whole journey but then you see the front door and you think I can’t do the five more steps… that’s how I feel.’
Wood also said she was a ‘super fan’ of the first two seasons, adding it was ‘exhilarating and terrifying’ at the same time.
She said that since the show was an ensemble piece she didn’t, ‘want to be the one that lets the group down.
