Olivia Munn opened up about her acting comeback as she appeared in her first role in more than three years.
While reflecting on going topless during her intimate scenes with Jon Hamm in their new series Your Friends and Neighbors, the actress, 44, revealed she feels less anxious about her body post-surgery.
‘As insecure as I was going into this about my body post-cancer and post-double mastectomy, I have been more insecure before going through all of this,’ she told NBC News.
The X-Men: Apocalypse star continued: ‘I have a deeper appreciation for my body, because my body is the thing that got me through this. I fought through this with everything that I have, so I was a lot less insecure.’
In addition to becoming more confident in her own skin since her cancer battle, the Oklahoma City explained she has become more selective with her work.
‘I have to manage my time, and I have to think about how much do I want to be away from my children or how much stress this is going to cause me,’ she said.

Munn added: ‘With my particular health situation, my cancer feeds on hormones, so if there’s any cancer that has found its way to stay in my body, then stress hormones can also feed on that.’
‘I often ask myself if this situation, this job, this friendship or this dynamic causes me stress and, God forbid, was to feed a cancer in my body and it came back later on in my life, would it have been worth it? And the answer is always no,’ she explained of her current mindset.

In 2024, Munn revealed she had been diagnosed with ‘aggressive’ luminal B breast cancer and had underwent five surgeries, including a double mastectomy and hysterectomy.
Last year, she bravely bared her mastectomy scars for a SKIMS ad during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
In an interview with Today, at the time, Olivia revealed that the campaign initially wasn’t supposed to be about her scars – until she chose to embrace them.
‘When Skims approached me to do this campaign, it was just to do their shapewear and their new leggings, and it wasn’t about my scar at all,’ she said.
But while shooting the campaign, Olivia struggled to conceal the scars once she changed into an outfit where they became more visible.
‘But were in the middle of the shoot and we changed into an outfit that could see more of my scars so the makeup artist was touching up my scars and then we got to the double mastectomy scars and they were just really hard to cover up,’ she said.

‘Then I was looking in the mirror, and I just thought, “I’m done being insecure about my scars,”‘ she recalled. ‘So I went to the team of Skims and I said, “What do you guys think about showing my scars in this campaign?”
‘And they were so amazing and thoughtful and wonderful. And we talked it out and then we decided to do it.’
In September, Olivia and her husband John Mulaney welcomed their second child, a daughter, Méi June Mulaney, who was born via surrogate.
The couple also share two-year-old son Malcolm together.
