Kris Jenner got tearful as Tristan Thompson’s brother Amari suffered a seizure at the 18th birthday party Khloe Kardashian had thrown for him.

The heartbreaking moment was documented on the latest episode of The Kardashians on Hulu which was released on Thursday.

The unfortunate incident saw Kris breaking down when Tristan’s youngest brother suffered a seizure while celebrating his milestone year.

Amari was born with a rare form of epilepsy known as Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (LGS), and is bound to a wheelchair, requiring around-the-clock support.

After the sudden death of Tristan’s mother Andrea from a heart attack in January 2023, Tristan, the ex of Khloe Kardashian and father of her two children, became Amari’s legal guardian.

Amari has been featured sparingly on The Kardashians before, though the family got together at Khloe’s home to celebrate Amari’s 18th birthday.

Amari’s birthday bash was attended by several of the Kardashian-Jenner children as they crowded around him for a sweet pH๏τo 

The festive occasion took a scary turn when Kris and Khloe were chatting with Amari’s full-time caretakers – Noel Rojas and Alba Flores – when he suffered a seizure.

While the seizure wasn’t shown, Kris was driven to tears, having never seen Amari have a seizure before, though Khloe insisted it happens practically every day.

Kris was visibly shaken, as Khloe told her to ‘calm down,’ adding in confession that, ‘Amari will never be a burden or any of that. Amari is one of the most special souls I have ever met.’

‘When you meet someone who’s so wonderful, and something so terrible happens to them, you do want to help, you do want to fix it and be there as much as you can, and I think my mom feels the exact same way. She has such a connection to Amari,’ Khloe says in confession.

While Amari’s caretakers tended to Amari, Kris stepped aside and wiped the tears from her eyes. 

Khloe and MJ go check on Kris, as a tearful Kris admitted she had never seen one of Amari’s seizures before.

Both MJ and Khloe said they have seen seizures before, with Khloe speculating that they may not affect them as much as Kris, who was holding back the tears.

Khloe insists Amari is ‘fine,’ adding he’s probably, ‘overstimulated,’ but Kris said through tears that was, ‘very overwhelming.’

Khloe adds in confession, ‘When Amari’s having a seizure, I know how to stay calm. I’m around Amari a lot, I’ve seen a lot of seizures. He has multiple seizures a day, I know what to do in these situations, but someone who hasn’t been exposed to that and hasn’t seen that, it can be very scary, and it’s a very helpless feeling.’

The TV personality, 40 uploaded the post to her main page, while the NBA star, 33, and Kris Jenner also shared birthday wishes of their own. 

Alongside an ᴀssortment of pH๏τos of herself with Amari over the years, Khloe wrote a heartwarming caption which read: ‘Happy 18th Birthday sweet angel Amari!!’

‘I can’t believe you are 18! You have changed our lives in the best possible ways! Thank you for being an angel to us all!’

The reality star concluded with, ‘You are the sweetest, silliest and most loving young man. I hope you feel how much we love and adore you our sweet angel Amari,’ followed by a blue heart emoji. 

In one image, the Good American founder paused for a quick selfie with the 18-year-old while spending time on a spacious patio outdoors.

Another pH๏τo showed Amari with Khloe as they watched a film inside a movie theater. 

At the time, Khloe shared a touching tribute to Amari on Instagram back on July 27, 2024 

She also wrote a heartwarming caption which read: ‘Happy 18th Birthday sweet angel Amari!!’

The mother-of-two included other selfies that she had taken with Tristan’s younger brother, as well as a clip of her son Tatum bonding with Amari. 

In a short reel that was also shared to the Instagram carousel, Tatum could be seen laying a kiss on Amari’s cheek as he slept. 

One picture showed Amari posing with his late mother, Andrea, who pᴀssed away last year in January 2023 after suffering from a heart attack in her Toronto home. 

Despite their split, Khloe supported Thompson as he mourned the loss of his mother by attending the funeral in Canada, and was also joined by Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner. 

In February 2024, Tristan became Amari’s legal guardian – 13 months after Andrea’s shock pᴀssing. 

Lastly, Khloe included a pH๏τo that was taken at what appeared to be a birthday bash for the 18-year-old. 

‘I can’t believe you are 18! You have changed our lives in the best possible ways! Thank you for being an angel to us all!’ she added

In the picture, Amari could be seen surrounded by loved ones, such as three of Kim’s children: North, 11, Saint, eight and Chicago, six. Two of Kourtney’s kids, Penelope, 12, and Reign, eight, also appeared in the snap.

The group stopped to take the pH๏τo while standing inside a large kitchen, with a variety of blue balloons close by in the distance. 

Tristan –  who currently plays for the Cleveland Cavaliers – also took to his own Instagram account to celebrate his sibling’s birthday at the time. 

In his caption, the sports player penned, ‘Happy birthday, Amari! Big number 18! We are so blessed and fortunate for all the blessings that you bring to our lives!’

Despite their split, Khloe and Tristan have seemingly continued to move forward to positively raise their children and focus on family.  

The former couple began dating in 2016 – and welcomed their first child, True, in April 2018.

However, Tristan cheated on the TV personality when she was pregnant with their daughter. After the shock news broke, the pair remained together.

In response to a social media user on Twitter that same year, Khloe had expressed, ‘You have no knowledge of what goes on in our household or the enormous rebuilding this takes to even coexist.’

‘I’m proud of my strength. I appreciate your opinion and I hope you hold that same opinion to everyone else who has stayed in situations.’

The following year in 2019, the two split after Thompson kissed Kylie Jenner’s former BFF Jordyn Woods at a party – but reconciled during the Covid-19 pandemic after they quarantined together.

In June 2021, the pair once again ended their relationship, while a source told Us Weekly at the time that the stars ‘remain amicable toward each other and will continue to coparent.’

The basketball pro issued an apology to Khloe, stating, ‘you don’t deserve this. You don’t deserve the heartache and humiliation I have caused you.’

‘You don’t deserve the way I have treated you over the years. My actions certainly have not lined up with the way I view you. I have the utmost respect and love for you. Regardless of what you may think. Again, I am so incredibly sorry.’

On July 28, 2022, the pair welcomed their second child – son Tatum – via surrogate.

Along with his son, Theo, whom he shares with Nichols, Thompson is also father to Prince. He welcomed the baby boy with ex, Jordan Craig.

Following his numerous cheating scandals, both he and Khloe have seemingly put the past behind them. Last month, the pair were seen grabbing a bite to eat together at Nobu in Malibu.

‘I don’t want to [date]. Once I’m done with the kids at 9, I have limited time. 9:30-4pm, that’s my time. I’m not sharing it with a man. I’m not sharing my TV, I’m not sharing my bed,’ Khloe said.

When questioned by Scott Disick if there was ‘any hope for Tristan’ for them to get back together in the future, she revealed that the ‘door is closed.’

In a confessional, the businesswoman added, ‘Are you kidding me? This is life. We all gotta grow up and move on. I feel like everyone has been really judgy about how I spend my time because I’m not dating.’

‘I stopped dating Tristan when Tatum was in utero. 2.5 years without dating is not that crazy.’
