Helen George has revealed police turned up at her house multiple times in the middle of the night ‘concerned for her safety’.

The Call the Midwife star, 40, was stunned the first time two police officers knocked on her door, after several neighbours reported that they had heard ‘crying and screaming for help’. 

Helen admitted it was ‘mentally’ a bad time for her as she was going through a divorce from ex-husband actor Oliver Boot. 

Speaking on the Drunk Women Solving Crime podcast, Helen explained: ‘I was asleep one night and I got a knock on the door at about two in the morning. I look out of the door and there’s two policemen on my doorstep. 

‘And they say: “Are you ok?”, and they look at me as though they’re really concerned for my safety. And I was like: “Yes, I was just asleep, I’m fine.” They said: “We’ve had reports from several of your neighbours that you’ve been down here crying and screaming for help”. 

‘So I was like, “Oh my god! I was asleep, what is this?” So I get really panicky and eventually they go away but by that time they’ve looked around my flat because they’re thinking there’s someone in there causing me harm, there’s something dark going on in there and I’m being abused.’

The actress went on to share: ‘This happens about two or three times more in the next two months. I think I’m going mad and I think I need to start recording myself in my sleep, obviously something’s going on. I should preface this by saying I was doing After Miss Julie which is a psychological thriller play at the same time. 

‘It’s a character going mad so is it life imitating art? The next time I’m lying in my bed and I wake up in the middle of the night to lights being shone on my curtains. It’s policemen, of course, in my garden checking to see if I’m ok. Eventually I let them in and it’s the same guys. 

‘I’m like, “Here we go again”. They say they’ve been hearing reports of smashing glᴀsses, shouting and screaming. So I said, “Come and have a look, there’s no broken glᴀsses.” And then we hear screaming. And my next door neighbour is there with his boyfriend who has a very high-pitched voice. 

‘It was him the whole time. The relief that I felt that I wasn’t going mad. This was going on for months. No one had tried next door! It was like mᴀss gaslighting.’

Helen ended the story by revealing her neighbour was struggling with substance abuse and ended up getting arrested, leaving hosts Taylor Glenn and Hannah George speechless. 

She said: ‘They ended up arresting him as they were worried about his boyfriend and took him away. It must had been about five visits, and I had gone through a divorce, this was mentally a bad time for me.

‘But I was fine. And the poor lad next door I don’t know what happened there.’

It comes after Helen revealed she is feeling ‘nothing but love’ after MailOnline revealed she had embarked on a new romance with businessman Dan Innes.

In an Instagram post she posted a slew of snaps from the past few days, including a sweet snap with her daughter.

She looked every inch the doting mother as she gave Lark, three, a kiss in a heart-warming update provided to her fans.

The actress wore a black vest top and let her shoulder-length brunette tresses loose in the pH๏τo, accessorising with a gold hoop earring, a gold ring on her left hand and a silver watch.

She added the caption: ‘Schnitzels, Snow Patrol and Strolls. Nothing but love ❤️’

Helen’s post came shortly after it was revealed she is dating divorced father-of-two Dan – who is 11 years her senior – since January. It is believed they met on celebrity dating app Raya.

The pair spent Valentine’s Day together at a restaurant in Barnes, South London, close to where Dan, 51, is based which Helen documented on her Instagram Stories.

The couple enjoyed a meal at The Waterman Arms as Dan shared a snap of the actress beaming with a bottle of red wine as he joked: ‘Can I get this to go please? #yesyesyes’.

The romance comes a year after Helen was linked with her Call the Midwife co-star Olly Rix, who played her onscreen husband Matthew Aylward.

They reportedly grew close following splits from their respective longterm partners.

At the time, Helen had broken up with her partner of seven years, Jack Ashton, with whom she shares two daughters, Wren Ivy and Lark. Meanwhile, Olly had separated from his make-up artist girlfriend Natasha Fagri, who he had been dating since 2016.

However, the pair drifted apart and after joining Raya in a bid to find love, she is now dating the property marketing agency boss.

According to Dan’s LinkedIn profile, he has worked in real estate for more than 25 years and his specialist skill is that ‘he sees the bigger property picture – which now activity embraces technology’.

He was brought up in North Wales and attended Newcastle University before moving down to settle in London.

He is currently the managing director and founder of real estate consultancy firm Innesco.

Dan split up from the mother of his two children – who are 14 and 12 – Kate Wetten in 2016. They married in 2008.

Helen also took to her Instagram Story over the weekend as she wrote: ‘The most delicious Valentine’s over-ordering. Hearts and stomach’s full @daninnes @thewatermans.arms’.

Dan’s Instagram is private, but his bio reads: ‘Future thinker, global voyeur, architecturally inquisitive, marine + mountainous, health + moderation, national + Atlantic oarsman, possible viking.’

It comes after reports last September that Helen had joined celebrity dating app Raya, after ‘drifting apart’ from Olly .

In 2016, Helen began a relationship with Jack after meeting on the set of Call the Midwife, in which she plays Trixie Franklin.

The pair’s characters embarked on a romance on screen and Tom proposed to Trixie, before she ended their relationship.

In real life, the couple were said to have fallen for each other after travelling to South Africa to film the show’s 2016 Christmas Special.

Confirming the split, Helen told The Mirror in July 2023: ‘Some months ago, we separated. Our two beautiful girls remain the focus and I respectfully ask for privacy for this next chapter.’

A source added: ‘Helen and Jack’s decision to end their relationship has been amicable, and no one else is involved, they have just grown apart as a couple.’

In November 2023, she was snapped leaving Olly’s home which sparked rumours of a growing connection between the pair – but they have since unfollowed each other on Instagram.

Moving on from Olly and Jack, Helen signed up to star-studded app Raya, according to The Mirror.

On her profile, Helen describes herself as an actor and says she liked to go to H๏τels, restaurants and bars, meditation, theatre, travel, dogs and antiques.

The actress had previously ignited romance speculation among fans online after sharing a slew of images from her latest Italian getaway, featuring some new faces.

She looked gorgeous in the carousel of images, including a ʙικιɴι selfie and a few group pH๏τos where she was up-close with a previously-unseen brunette man.

Curious fans of the star rushed to the comments, writing: ‘Who’s the new dude?’ and ‘A new beau? Very handsome!’

However, Helen was quick to shut down the romance rumours and confirm that the mystery fan was in fact just a friend, who is married.

Finding humour in the situation, the actress went on to joke: ‘Sadly I’m not their type.’

Helen was previously married to actor Oliver Boot, but they divorced after three years.

Helen met her former partner on the set of BBC drama H๏τel Babylon, and the couple married in December 2012.

Their separation occurred just weeks before Helen began her stint on Strictly in 2015 in which she was paired with pro dancer Aljaž Skorjanec and finished in sixth place.
