Jessie J has opened up about how she has overcome a number of serious health struggles throughout her career as she prepares to release new music.
The singer, 37, poignantly shared that she was previously diagnosed with heart disease while appearing at Advertising Week Europe in London on Wednesday.
She also suffered a stroke at the age of 17 after signing her first record deal and went deaf when she was meant to release her last album, before having a miscarriage.
Speaking at at 180 Studios, Jessie shared: ‘My health has always kept me balanced.
‘When I was nine, I landed a role in a West End musical, but then I was diagnosed with heart disease and was in and out of the hospital while doing the show.
‘At 17, just after signing my first deal and finishing the BRIT School, I had a stroke.

The singer, 37, revealed that she has always been able to ‘keep her feet on the ground’ due to her health keeping her ‘balanced’
‘Then, when I was supposed to release my last album, I went deaf. And then I had a miscarriage. All these things have felt like they were keeping my feet on the ground.’
Jessie suffered a heartbreaking miscarriage in 2021 and wrote a poignant song about baby loss following the devastating experience.
Jessie and basketball player boyfriend Chanan Colman, who she started dating in 2021, went on to welcome son Sky in May 2023.
The Price Tag hitmaker, who is set to release her first music in eight years, also revealed that she is constantly ‘scared’ of her son ‘hurting himself’ as she discussed motherhood.
She explained: ‘Living in fear doesn’t stop the thing you’re scared of from happening. I’m always so scared my son’s going to hurt himself, but if he’s going to hurt himself, he’s going to hurt himself.
‘I may as well live in the moment while he’s not hurting himself, instead of being scared that he is.’
Jessie is currently preparing to release her H๏τly-anticipated music comeback after eight years with a new studio album.
Yet the Domino hitmaker left fans in disbelief after admitting she wants to go into comedy in a major career change.

The British singer had guests in sтιтches as she cracked a few jokes during the recent panel talk, The Woman I Am.
The event, organised by Apple Music, was held in London to celebrate International Women’s Month.
‘I actually genuinely want to do stand-up,’ the mum-of-one said bluntly.
‘I love making people laugh — and cry. I just love feeling things. So yeah, I do want to do comedy.’
For her music comeback, Jessie has reportedly ‘teamed up with Adele’s favourite songwriting partner Ryan Tedder’.
Jessie is rumoured to have ‘a string of new songs and her fifth album ready to go’ as she teams up with the OneRepublic’s singer.
‘She’s been through some seismic changes in her life over the past couple of years, most notably becoming a mum, and it’s inspired her to get back into the studio,’ a source told The Sun.
