A BBC Breakfast host cried on her final day in the role after an emotional tribute from her co-star and was flooded with support from fans.
Nina Warhurst, 44, returned to screens last year after seven months on maternity leave.
Now, the news anchor has just completed her last shift on ‘Money and Work’ and is moving into a new role as a presenter on BBC’s One O’Clock News.
Her colleague, Jon Kay, posted a touching statement on his Instagram for Nina announcing her move and wishing her well.
It led to Nina admitting that the social media post made her cry.
Jon said: ‘This was definitely NOT goodbye – but today was Nina’s last shift doing the Money & Work job on Breakfast before she starts her new role presenting the BBC One O’Clock News.

‘She’ll still be based in Salford – still working with the same team in the same studio. She’ll still be presenting Breakfast with us sometimes. And she’ll always be a mate.
‘But I just wanted to say what a pleasure it has been to work with her since I joined Brekkie.
‘She’s one of the most talented, dedicated, versatile, fun and fearless people I know. She commits 100% to any story or issue she’s covering. She always puts the audience first. And she’s exactly the same off-air as she is on the sofa.
‘Much as we’ll miss her energy and smiles at 0445, we’re all delighted for her that she can now have a little more sleep – and a bit more time at home with her wonderful family in the mornings. She’ll be amazing at lunchtime x.’
Nina responded with: ‘@jon you made me cry !! Thank you so much xxx And so kind of @teddyspH๏τos to find the time to write a song to mark this historic day.’
The post was flooded with comments from supportive fans and one penned: ‘Ah bless her, well done Nina, she is brilliant so down to earth, sometimes says what everybody is thinking glad we will still see her sometimes at breakfast, you are all such a nice crew but I will look forward to seeing her at 1pm.’
Another said: ‘Congratulations to this lovely lady, wishing you lots of love for the future. Xxxxxx.’
While someone else wrote: ‘Perfectly put Jon! Will miss your fun and energy in the morning @ninawarhurst_ xxx.’
One added: ‘I love her. She is such a refreshing person to see presenting the news/breakfast. Love her outfits too!’

The television news anchor welcomed a baby girl named Nance with her husband Ted in July – the pair’s third child together – back in 2023.
When Nina returned to screens last year, she presented an investigation into the price of baby formula.
After being excitedly introduced by co-star Jon, Nina gushed about how much she had missed ‘the gang’ at BBC Breakfast.
But she quickly added that she missed her baby girl also, apologising to other parents as she claimed her baby is ‘the best one’.
Breakfast airs daily on BBC One from 6am and is available to stream on iPlayer.
