What ‘rude’ Morgan Wallen really said during cringe SNL appearance

What Morgan Wallen said during his very controversial Saturday Night Live exit – which was branded as ‘rude’ – has been revealed.

The Cowgirls hitmaker, 31, served as SNL’s musical guest on the March 29 episode, which was hosted by newly minted Oscar winner and Anora star Mikey Madison as a writer for the show fired back.

However, the country star came under fire for walking off stage during the goodbye portion of she show where the host and musical guest exchange hugs, handshakes, and pleasantries with the cast and crew.

Lip reader Nicola Hickling  told Page Six on Wednesday that the chart-topper said ‘thank you all so much’ to the cast and crew and that he had ‘a wonderful time.’

The lip reader went on to say that Wallen expressed the same to 26-year-old actress Mikey while hugging her.

The talented thespian reportedly  replied: ‘Chatting to you was really good.’

Meanwhile SNL writer, Josh Patten, hilariously poked fun at Wallen’s controversial exit from the NBC sketch show with a cheeky social media post.

Less than 24 hours after the country singer sparked outrage for abruptly walking off the stage, before the credits rolled, the television writer posted a pH๏τo of a Krispy Kreme truck to his Instagram Stories with the caption ‘get me to God’s Country.’

The post was a clear reference to the image Wallen shared with the same, eyebrow-raising caption over his private jet as he made a quick exit  out of New York City.

Although many ᴀssumed Patten was mocking Wallen, the Emmy winner clarified that he is a big fan of Wallen’s music and that five of his most-played songs in 2023 were off the star’s third studio album, One Thing at a Time.

‘How quickly the media forgets 2023,’ Patten captioned a screensH๏τ of his favorite tracks from 2023.

Wallen was previously uninvited to perform in 2020 after partying at the University of Alabama, days before the show, amid the COVID pandemic.

Two months later, he made his debut on the show and even appeared in a sketch, alongside Jason Bateman, poking fun at the controversy.

Saturday marked Wallen’s return to the show following his infamous N-word scandal.

Despite debuting two new songs off of his upcoming album, I’m The Problem, social media users were struck by his ‘rude’ departure.

While it is an unspoken tradition for the guests and the cast to hug and mingle before the credits roll, Wallen reportedly rushed off at the end of the show.

While Madison was wrapping up the show with a closing speech, he leaned over and said something into her ear.

When the actress and the rest of the SNL cast started celebrating the end of their episode, he walked off.

He seemingly headed straight to the airport to leave New York City as he posted his Instagram Story pH๏τo just a bit later.

A source from Morgan’s team has since told Variety that Morgan had a good time on the show and did not mean to cause any offense with his abrupt exit and Instagram post.

This comes as the controversy-attracting star faced legal troubles and was caught up in a number of scandals including using the N-word and also throwing a chair off a rooftop on two separate drunken outings.

After a number of scandals, the controversy-suffused country music star made his sophomore appearance on the show following his 2020 debut.

Four years ago, he temporarily stalled his career after he was caught on tape drunkenly shouting the N-word outside his home in February of 2021.

The N-word controversy led to public condemnation of Wallen, but fans of the singer responded to him using the offensive racial slur by listening to his music more than ever, leading to a 500 percent increase in streaming numbers.

When Good Morning America’s Michael Strahan asked Wallen if he thought that streaming surge could be a sign of racism lurking in the country music industry, he replied that he ‘hadn’t really thought about that,’ via The Daily Beast.

After the N-word incident, the singer reportedly expressed interest in having a sit-down with the Nashville NAACP, but TMZ later reported that he stopped taking the organization’s calls and resumed touring.

He was initially banned by several major corporations who own an empire of radio stations, but after just four months the owners had quietly allowed stations to begin playing Wallen’s music as they saw fit.

Wallen’s fourth studio album, I’m The Problem, is set for release on May 16.
