Jason Momoa appeared to be in a foul mood when fans spotted him dining out in New York City after a whirlwind day of promoting A Minecraft Movie.

The 45-year-old action hero was seen out in Manhattan’s Soho neighborhood after a meal at the popular Italian restaurant Il Buco, but the sharp dresser appeared unrecognizable in an ultra-casual outfit as he loaded up his car after dinner in a pH๏τo obtained by DailyMail.com.

Onlookers said Jason was ‘growling’ and appeared to be grumpy as he left the restaurant after eating with a group of people.

The sighting comes after the actor confirmed that he would be back for planned third film in the current Dune film series, despite his character having died in the first film. 

A source who was dining at Il Buco said: ‘There was the guy in a hat and a ponytail literally yelling across the street to his friends. Everyone turned around and people were like, “Is that Jason Momoa?”‘

Their hesitancy may have stemmed from the fact that the Game Of Thrones actor — who was seen in London with his actress girlfriend Adria Arjona just days before — had cast off the flashy suits he was wearing earlier in the day in favor of a purple tank top and an odd bowler hat.

Jason paired the low-key top with a set of dark blue selvedge jeans turned up at the hems into thick cuffs and dark brown boots.

He also wore a chunky brown with what looked like colorful Native American designs decorating it.

The actor appeared to be chatting with two other men as he finished putting something in his trunk.

Earlier in the day, Jason was seen wearing the same outfit without the bowler hat.

He wore a mauve shirt jacket over his tank top, and he wore brilliant white amber-tinted glᴀsses. 

During his appearance that morning on the Today Show, Momoa confirmed that his character Duncan Idaho would be back for the upcoming Dune Messiah.

The film, which will again star Timothée Chalamet and be directed by Denis Villeneuve, will take the series in dark and startling directions that may shock fans who only know of the science fiction series through its recent films or David Lynch’s controversial 1984 adaptation.

During a conversation with Craig Melvin on set, the interviewer noted that Duncan Idaho returns to the story in the second book of the series, despite having died in Frank Herbert’s original Dune, which was published in 1965.

‘Well, I’m not sure if I’m going to get in trouble or not,’ Momoa said hesitantly. ‘But it’s the same thing like Game Of Thrones, you know what I mean? If you didn’t read the books, it’s not my fault, right?’

After Melvin agreed, Jason went further and admitted: ‘Yeah, I’m going to be coming back.’

He added that his character was ‘making a comeback,’ then joked that Melvin had gotten him ‘in trouble.’ 

Although Duncan Idaho did indeed die in the first film and first book, his character was resurrected in Dune Messiah.

His character also appeared in the increasingly bizarre sequels that followed Dune Messiah, though Villeneuve has said he is only interested in adapting the series through its second book.

On Monday morning, Jason made the rounds at the Today Show while wearing a striking H๏τ pink suit.

He wore it with a tie-free white shirt and dressed down further with pink socks and beige sandals. 

Although he was willing to tease his return to the Dune series, the appearance was part of his promotional tour for his new action-comedy, A Minecraft Movie.

The film, which also stars Jack Black and Danielle Brooks, features Jason as one of a group of misfits who are sucked through a portal into the Overworld, the blocky world of the Minecraft video game.

There, they begin a quest after meeting another human, the master crafter Steve (Black), who has lived their for years.

On Sunday, Jason was in London to attend the film’s world premiere.
