Amazon bosses are reportedly planning to cast the youngest ever James Bond – and the new film will be set in the 1950s and ’60s.
The streaming giant, who bought creative control of the James Bond franchise earlier this year, is said to be keen to hire an actor in their 20s.
A TV insider told The Sun: ‘As sensational as it was, Daniel’s exit caused a headache because the death is still fresh in the minds of fans.
‘They can’t just pretend it didn’t happen. So they’re now looking at his story as younger man in a different era.’
It comes after the Daily Mail revealed James Bond will remain a man and will still be British or from the Commonwealth – despite the films being taken over by ‘woke’ Hollywood.
Fans of 007 feared Amazon Studios – owned by billionaire Jeff Bezos – would corrupt the British super spy after buying the Bond franchise and rights for £770 million from Bond stewards Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson.

But The Mail on Sunday can reveal that Amazon this week circulated an internal memo stipulating the spy will not change gender or nationality.
MailOnline has contacted Amazon for comment.
It comes after Daniel revealed how he found out he landed the role of James Bond and how he celebrated.
The actor took on the role of 007 in Casino Royale back in 2006 and went on to star four more films, Quantum of Solace (2008), Skyfall (2012), Spectre (2015), and No Time to Die (2021).
Now, Daniel, who was sworn to secrecy about the role at the time, revealed that he found out the news in a supermarket and had to celebrate alone.
Speaking to host Fabio Fazio to promote new film Queer on Italian TV show Che Tempo Che Fa, he said: ‘When I found out I was in the supermarket.
‘I had this trolley full of food, I gave it a shove, I threw it aside, I took a bottle of vodka and I said, ‘Now I’m going to have a Martini!”.
Daniel added on the legendary role: ‘Even today I look at these images and I can hardly believe it. I still can’t get over it, it was such an important part of my life’.
Barbara Broccoli (pictured, right, with Daniel Craig in 2019) is reported to have netted ‘at least $1 billion’ from selling creative control of the James Bond franchise
In the past 23 years, Broccoli and Wilson made only five films (including No Time To Die in 2021, pictured). Amazon/MGM are expected to move swiftly to hire a new Bond

As a new era begins for Bond, the search has begun for an actor fit to play Britain’s most iconic character.
Among the bookies favourites for 007 are Bullet Train star Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Superman Henry Cavill and Happy Valley’s James Norton.
But one little-known name has also been thrown into the mix of potential candidates – and he’s reportedly in talks with bosses and has sent an audition tape.
According to The Mirror, Mike Dickman, 40, whose acting credits include small roles in Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny, Barbie, and the upcoming movie Gandhi, is being considered by Barbara Broccoli.
He allegedly met up with Barbara to discuss a separate work opportunity, but the topic of conversation turned to Bond and she then urged him to audition.
A source told the publication: ‘The two of them met up in London last January, and it was a very cordial meeting about something unrelated during which Barbara brought up Bond. Mike ended up sending an audition tape.’
A representative for Mike declined when asked to comment.
