Daniel Craig reveals the hilarious way he celebrated landing iconic James Bond role

Daniel Craig has revealed how he found out he landed the role of James Bond and how he celebrated during a new interview in Milan, Italy on Sunday.

The actor took on the role of 007 in Casino Royale back in 2006 and went on to star four more films, Quantum of Solace (2008), Skyfall (2012), Spectre (2015), and No Time to Die (2021).

Now, Daniel, who was sworn to secrecy about the role at the time, revealed that he found out the news in a supermarket and had to celebrate alone.

Speaking to host Fabio Fazio to promote new film Queer on Italian TV show Che Tempo Che Fa, he said: ‘When I found out I was in the supermarket.

‘I had this trolley full of food, I gave it a shove, I threw it aside, I took a bottle of vodka and I said, “Now I’m going to have a Martini!”‘.

Daniel added on the legendary role: ‘Even today I look at these images and I can hardly believe it. I still can’t get over it, it was such an important part of my life’.

For the TV appearance, Daniel cut a dapper figure in an oversized beige double breasted suit which he teamed with a white shirt.

He added a patterned brown tie and rocked a pair of chunky brown suede boots to complete his ensemble.

Daniel wore his long locks swept over to one side and sported a grey stubble beard.

As a new era begins for Bond, the search has begun for an actor fit to play Britain’s most iconic character.

Among the bookies favourites for 007 are Bullet Train star Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Superman Henry Cavill and Happy Valley’s James Norton.

But one little-known name has also been thrown into the mix of potential candidates – and he’s reportedly in talks with bosses and has sent an audition tape.

According to The Mirror, Mike Dickman, 40, whose acting credits include small roles in Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny, Barbie, and the upcoming movie Gandhi, is being considered by Barbara Broccoli.

He allegedly met up with Barbara to discuss a separate work opportunity, but the topic of conversation turned to Bond and she then urged him to audition.

A source told the publication: ‘The two of them met up in London last January, and it was a very cordial meeting about something unrelated during which Barbara brought up Bond. Mike ended up sending an audition tape.’

A representative for Mike declined when asked to comment.

It comes after Daniel has been rumoured to join the cast of the Chronicles Of Narnia film franchise.

Although development for the fourth instalment is still early in the process, it appears the actor is being eyed-up for the role.

With production set to start later this year, Netflix and director Greta Gerwig are trying to lure the famed 007 actor, although he has yet to sign-on.

At this point it’s not known exactly what character the Chester, Cheshire, England native has been offered to play, according to ᴅᴇᴀᴅline.

The studio and Gerwig appear to be aiming high in regards to star power considering it had been previously reported that pop star Charli XCX was in talks for the role of the white witch.

The plan to develop new Narnia film projects and a series based on Lewis’ beloved fantasy novels The Chronicles Of Narnia began back in 2018.

Within two years, Netflix brought Gerwig, the Barbie co-writer and director, on board to adapt and helm the first movie.

Details about the where the storytelling will focus in the upcoming Narnia film are scarce, but it has already been reported that the film will get an exclusive two-week Imax global run for Thanksgiving 2026, ahead of it dropping on Netflix.

The series revolves around the adventures of children in the world of Narnia , guided by Aslan, a wise and powerful lion that can speak and is the true king of Narnia.
