Ben Affleck was seen shopping in Los Angeles with his 12-year-old son Samuel just days after breaking his silence on his divorce from Jennifer Lopez.

The Oscar winner, 50, kept it casual in a shirt jacket and jeans, while Samuel—whom he shares with ex-wife Jennifer Garner, along with daughters Violet, 19, and Fin, 16—tagged along in an all-white sweatshirt at the Westfield Century City mall.

At times, Affleck appeared visibly tense—perhaps due to his recent admission that he found his split from Lopez ’embarrᴀssing.’

A source told DailyMail.com that Affleck spoke out about the April 2024 breakup for the first time because he was ‘so over’ the narrative portraying him as the villain and Lopez as the ‘victim.’

The insider also noted that Affleck hopes their split won’t ‘overshadow’ the release of Kiss of the Spider Woman, the upcoming film they worked on together. 

Just this week, it was confirmed that the movie musical—starring Lopez and co-produced by Affleck—had secured a theatrical release for the fall.

‘Also, regarding their movie, Ben is trying to get the deal locked,’ the source revealed.

‘He really does want this to succeed and not be overshadowed by their drama which happened to Unstoppable.’

Last week, in a break from his norm, the notoriously private actor shed some light on the breakdown of his marriage in an interview with British GQ – after years of staying тιԍнт-lipped about their romance.

A source told DailyMail.com that he made the decision to speak out about the breakup publicly for the first time because he was ‘so over’ the narrative that painted him as the bad guy and Lopez the ‘victim.’

The Batman actor reportedly also hoped it would give him the ‘closure’ that he desperately ‘needed’ and ‘stop the constant questions’ about their split so he can move on and ‘focus’ on his ‘career and family.’

‘He is so over this divorce and the narrative that he was grumpy and that Jen was a victim,’ that insider revealed.

After being married in July 2022, the former couple were separated 19 months later, in April of last year.

That source maintains Affleck ‘never planned to address their divorce’ publicly but ultimately felt he needed to clear the air following his ex-wife’s shock comments to Interview magazine last October.

Samuel, whom he shares with his ex-wife Jennifer Garner, 52, wore a light grey hoodie and white sweatpants with Nikes

Affleck also shares Violet, 19, and Fin, 16 with Garner, whom he was married to from 2005 to 2018

The sighting comes after the Air star broke his silence on his divorce from Jennifer Lopez, 56 

At the time, the singer and actress described the breakup as the ‘hardest time in her life’ and said her ‘whole f**king world exploded,’ but added that it ‘lead her to where she wanted to go.’

But all the while, ‘Ben had never planned to address their divorce because it is a private matter, and he respects Jen,’ the source explained.

‘But after she spoke about him to Interview magazine he decided it was time to say what he had to say in the nicest way possible.’

During his interview with British GQ – which took place in late January and early February but hit stands earlier this week – Affleck admitted that he and JLo had different views on fame.

‘There are a lot of people who I think have handled celebrity more adeptly and more adroitly than I have, Jennifer among them,’ he said.

‘My temperament is to be a little bit more reserved and private than hers. As happens in relationships, you don’t always have the same atтιтude towards these things.’

As for what went wrong, he insisted that ‘there’s no scandal, no soap opera, no intrigue’ when it came to the demise of their marriage.

‘I guess there’s a tendency to look at breakups and want to identify root causes or something,’ he continued.

‘But honestly, like I said, the truth is much more quotidian than probably people would believe or would be interesting.

‘It’s just a story about people trying to figure out their lives and relationships in ways that we all sort of normally do.’

He insisted that there was no ‘big event’ that lead to their breakup, and confessed that talking about the split felt ’embarrᴀssing’ and ‘vulnerable.’

‘As you get older, this is true for me, I ᴀssume it’s true for most people, there is no “So-and-so did this” or “This was the big event,”‘ the Hollywoodland star said.

‘It’s really, it sounds more like a couple’s therapy session, which – you would tune out of someone else’s couple’s therapy after a while.

‘For one thing, you start going, “OK, clearly this person has got these issues. Clearly they have these issues.” And the reason I don’t want to share that is just sort of embarrᴀssing. It feels vulnerable.’

He concluded by stating that he has ‘nothing but respect’ for his ex-wife.
