The singer/songwriter is one of the latest stars of the viral Confidence Heist Instagram page.

The account approaches pᴀssers-by to ask them ‘what makes you confident?’

David Carmi, who runs the page, recognised the star despite her very different appearance as she walked around the SoHo neighbourhood of New York, and took his chance, approaching her with his signature question.

Beaming for the camera, the make-up free star, who is behind some of the biggest pop hits of the past decade, was delighted to be asked, telling David her secret was ‘mirror work.

The star happily appears in the viral video to give her self confidence tips, revealing that she ‘looks into the mirror and then I say to myself all the opposite things that I think are negative about myself.’

Explaining the technique was Harvard-studied, Sia told David that ‘it rewires your brain, so if you’re having a hard time you have to write all the bad things your brain tells you about yourself and write the opposite and then say that into the mirror every day.’

The star also gave some advice to her older self, declaring with a smile: ‘Live more now.’

After shooting to fame ten years ago, the Australian singer revealed why she covered her face with face-covering wigs and bizarre costumes.

‘It’s just so that I can go to Target and buy a hose if I want to,’ she explained during an appearance on The Ellen Show, adding: ‘Or if I find I’m in need of a restroom, I can go in the side of the road, no one would be following me with a camera trying to get a sH๏τ.’ 

Sia’s latest appearance comes after it was revealed she filed for divorce from her husband of two years, Dan Bernad.

In her divorce papers seen by DailyMail.com, the star – born born Sia Kate Isobelle Furler – shared that she welcomed a child in March 2024.

Sia is asking for legal and physical custody of Somersault but will consider ‘visitation rights’ for Bernad.

The 49-year-old singer filed on March 19 after 26 months of being married. In the paperwork it is stated that she had separated from Dan only the day before. 

Before marrying Bernad, Sia became a mom to two teenage boys in 2019. Both were 18 years old at the time and about to age out of the foster care system.

They started dating in December 2021 and married during an intimate ceremony in 2023 in Portofino, Italy.

In 2020 she told GQ she wanted to stay ‘single for the rest of my life’ following her 2017 divorce from golf documentarian Erik Anders Lang. They were wed for only two years.

Sia married documentary filmmaker Lang at her home in Palm Springs, California, in August 2014. The couple divorced in 2016.

At the start of her career Sia suffered enormous heartbreak which shaped her songs.

In the late nineties, Sia moved to London to be with her boyfriend Dan Pontifex. Several weeks later, while in Thailand, she received the news that Pontifex had died after being in a car accident in London.

Her 2001 album Healing Is Difficult lyrically deals with Pontifex’s death: ‘I was pretty f***ed up after Dan died. I couldn’t really feel anything,’ she said in a 2007 interview.

‘We were all devastated, so we got s***-faced on drugs and Special Brew. Unfortunately, that bender lasted six years for me.’

In 2008, she dated JD Samson and they split in 2011.

When asked about her Sєxuality in 2009, she said, ‘I’ve always dated boys and girls and anything in between. I don’t care what gender you are, it’s about people. … I’ve always been… well, flexible is the word I would use.’
