Kristin Cavallari has revealed why she was ‘really upset’ following a reunion with the ex-boyfriend who took her virginity.

Cavallai recently embarked a tour for her podcast, Let’s Be Honest, where she spoke with various ‘surprise guests’ on stage, including her former Laguna Beach pals.

One blast from the past was Cavallari’s eighth grade boyfriend, Johnny, whom she had recently reconnected with.

But much to her dismay, the conversation left her feeling hurt and disappointed, with the MTV vet claiming Johnny gave her a ‘hard time on stage’ and put her ‘on blast’

Though a ‘let down’, the moment prompted Cavallari, 38, to review her past relationships and reevaluate why she tends to attract a specific type of man. 

On the latest episode of her podcast, Cavallari opened up about the reunion with Johnny and the ‘very impact relationship’ they once shared.

‘It was a very impactful relationship in my life, and one that I’ve sort of held in this high regard all of these years and really looked at it as like being really sweet and loving… I’ve just always walked away with really good feelings about it,’ she explained.

The duo had been in communication as of late and she even prepared him for his appearance on the show by sharing the questions she intended on asking.

‘And mind you, leading up to it, Johnny and I had been talking. We reconnected, and we were talking for a few weeks, and you know, he asked me the questions beforehand. Because he doesn’t do this stuff normally, I gave him the questions. I was like, I get it, he’s probably gonna be nervous, and I wanna make him comfortable and set him up for success, essentially.’

Unfortunately, the conversation went ‘the complete opposite’ of how Kristin ‘envisioned’ it unfolding.

‘Okay, so Johnny comes up on stage, I’m so excited. And it was the complete opposite of how I had envisioned it going because I felt like he was nervous, and so because he was nervous, how he decided to channel that was to essentially give me a hard time and put me on blast. And it really threw me. It was not what I expected. I was really let down.’

‘And again I’m not going to tell you guys what was said, but you will see it. You will see it. And I was bummed.

‘It was a very different person on stage from the person I had been talking to weeks leading up to it.

‘And then the person who afterwards wanted to hang out and came up and gave me the biggest kiss on the cheek and was back to being so sweet and so kind.

She was previously married to Jay Cutler from 2013 to 2022

‘And what both of those instances did, was stirred up a lot of emotion about the guys that I’ve chosen in my life. You know, I think, Talan on it’s own, wouldn’t have rocked my world,’ she said of Talan Torriera, another ex and Laguna Beach alum who appeared on her tour.

‘Johnny on its own — I think I would’ve still been upset, maybe not to the degree that I was, also being tired and it just being a long day and just giving so much energy, I was really upset…. I think what it did was it made me realize how far I’ve come, and I’m talking specifically about guys.

‘For so many years, I guess starting in eighth grade… how I was with guys was because of my relationship with my dad. And my dad definitely feels like he is not good enough. He’s sort of put that on me and my brother. Put that on me growing up, and so I never felt that I was good enough either, is really the base of it. And I attracted men into my life through that lens. And I know now, as an adult, looking back on all of my dating history, the reason I attracted all these guys in my life was to instigate healing.’

Her reunions with Johnny and Talan made her ᴀssess why she tended to attract a certain type of man and ultimately led her to fully embrace self-love.

‘Johnny and Talan made me go back and think about the men I’ve attracted into my life. And I’ve known all this, but had I really loved myself, I wouldn’t have put up with a lot of the s**t that I did previously,’ she said.

‘And I do think it’s gotten a lot better, but what I did on tour was, it made me kind of go… ’cause I’ve talked to guys, I’ve had guys on the peripheral. For what?… Like I joke “it’s just pᴀssing time”. But for what? I’m enough. I love myself.’

Kristin has also decided to embark on a ‘clean slate’ with her love life, ending flirtations with various men she has been in the talking stage with as a result.  

‘And instead of giving that “love” to these other random people, I’m gonna just start giving it to myself. And so I was talking to a couple guys while I was on tour, and I decided, I’m done. 

‘Clean slate. I’m starting fresh because they’re not my future. And I’ve decided I’m gonna be really serious about who I let into my life now.’

Kristin’s love life has been making headlines ever since she was a teenager. 

She famously dated fellow high school classmate Stephen Colletti on the MTV reality series Laguna Beach, and while they split they are on good terms and co-hosted a rewatch podcast of the popular early 2000s reality show called Back to the Beach.

When the series launched in 2022, she told Page Six that recording it made them ‘really close,’ but she clarified, ‘There’s nothing romantic happening with us.’

And when a fan on social media asked at the time if she wished Colletti were single, she said no.

‘I love Stephen and will always have such a special connection to him, but no. I’m really happy for him!!’ she replied of her ex, who is now engaged to Alex Weaver. 

She married former Chicago Bears player Jay Cutler in 2013 and they share three children together – sons Camden Jack, 12, Jaxon Wyatt, 10, and daughter Saylor James, nine. 

They have since divorced and Cavallari has moved on romantically since ending their marriage, dating the likes of comedian Jeff Dye and TikTok star Mark Estes.
