Gwyneth Paltrow has opened up about coping with the loss of two of her beloved dogs this past year.
The Shakespeare In Love actress, 52, reflected on the ‘tough year’ she had been experiencing following the deaths of her pooches, Nero and Daffodil.
Nero died in September 2024 while Gwyneth’s family said goodbye to Daffodil just a week ago.
The star made the revelation as she answered a question from a fan who asked for advice on coping with the death of a pet.
Paltrow said she has continued honoring, loving, and thinking of them since their deaths.
She still has a third dog, Gaucho, whom she has been lavishing with extra love in light of the losses.

‘Have you ever lost a dog and how did you survive the loss,’ the fan asked.
‘I’m sorry that you are asking this question,’ Gwyneth said during her Instagram Q&A. ‘I’ve lost two dogs recently, one last week only. Our little Maltese, Daffodil, who we had had for like 15 years, and our big Shepherd we lost in September.

‘So it’s been a tough year on the dog front. We’ve got one left who’s very overprotective.
‘But, it’s sort of like any other loss, you have to honor them, love them, keep them alive in your mind and love the dog that you have extra hard now, that’s what I’m doing.’
Gwyneth opened up briefly about Nero’s death in a Goop newsletter late last year as she reflected on all the ‘goodbyes’ she had to make in 2024.
‘One of our dogs died, my kids went to school, and I became an empty nester. I had a bunch of goodbyes this year,’ she wrote.
She does not appear to have publicly revealed Daffodil’s death until now.
The dogs have made appearances on Gwyneth’s Instagram over the years and in 2021 the actress put them on display with a sweet post marking National Dog Day.
‘Happy #nationaldogday from Gaucho, Nero and Daffodil and me,’ she wrote.

The duo’s joint appearance comes amid rampant comparisons between Markle’s controversial new Netflix show With Love, Meghan and lifestyle brand Ever and Paltrow’s GOOP empire — sparking rumors of a potential feud as fans accused Markle of ‘copying’ Paltrow.
Paltrow further fueled the speculation over the weekend by appearing to throw subtle ‘shade’ as she filmed herself making breakfast in her own kitchen while wearing pajamas.

On Saturday, she posted a clip of herself making scones, bacon and eggs on Instagram.
Throughout Markle’s series, she looked flawless in luxury designer gear and hired out a kitchen which was not her own.
Paltrow, on the other hand, went makeup-free while sporting casual striped pyjamas for her video, and used a soundtrack of This Will Be (An Everlasting Love) by Natalie Cole – which has also been used in promos for Markle’s Netflix project.
