Reigniting romance rumors, the singer, now single, left flirty comments for the Oscar-nominated actor, 54, after viewing his thirst traps on Instagram.
Simpson, 44, recently announced the split between her and her husband of 10 years, Eric Johnson, in January and has since hinted that their separation was due to infidelity.
Back in March 2010, Simpson and Renner were rumored to be dating after they were spotted together at a party for his action-thriller The Hurt Locker.
At the time, it was reported that they exchanged numbers before going their separate ways.
Shortly afterwards, however, Renner denied the speculation and explained their connection.

After watching the reel, the actress commented with the fire emoji and the Avengers star hearted her reaction.
