Comedy fans rave over ‘the funniest show ever’ as star-studded series rockets to the top of streaming charts

Comedy fans have been raving over ‘the funniest show ever’ after a star-studded series dropped on Amazon Prime Video last week.

Last One Laughing UK is the latest instalment in the franchise and sees British comics face off in Jimmy Carr’s challenge to make others laugh while keeping a straight face.

Part panel show, part reality show, it features comedians Daisy May Cooper, Bob Mortimer, Joe Lycett, Judi Love, Rob Beckett, Sara Pascoe, Lou Sanders, Joe Wilkinson, Harriet Kemsley, and Richard Ayoade.

The comedians spend the day together in a kitted out studio, being ᴀssigned tasks where the main goal is to make each other laugh.

And the show has proved a roaring success with viewers, shooting to number one on the Prime Video UK chart just five days after its release.

Viewers have been going wild for the show, begging for a season two and hailing it the ‘funniest show in a decade’.

Writing on X, formerly Twitter, they said: ‘Usually the words ‘Have you got a Kitchen Island?’ would be just a dull comment. Put it in #LastOneLaughingUk and suddenly I can’t stop laughing. Fabulous t.v more please! :-),’;

‘Wow!! My head hurts watching this! It really is THAT funny!! #bobmortimer proving again why he’s a national treasure!’;

‘Last one Laughing is without a doubt the funniest thing I’ve ever seen, I genuinely love all ten of them,’;

‘I’d be so bold as to say that #LastOneLaughingUK is the funniest thing I’ve seen in at least 10 years. Probably more. We binge-watched the first episodes tonight and I ran out of tissues from crying so much. My husband never laughs, but he made noises I’ve never heard him make,’;

‘Last One Laughing UK is utterly brilliant – honestly the standard of comedians we have in this country is gold level. Judi Love and Daisy May Cooper in Ep4 have killed me,’;

‘LOL: last one laughing is the best tv show I have ever watched. Just binge watched all available episodes, I never want it to end. I am WAITING to see what will break Richard,’;

‘#LastOneLaughingUK is literally the funniest thing we have seen in a long time! My ribs hurt from all the belly laughing please do season 2 and put #JamesAcaster in there.’

Last One Laughing sees each comic to bring their ‘joker’ – a performance they are asked to play at some point in the show – to try and catch their fellow comedians out.

The winner of the show is the one who manages not to laugh, with each comic allowed one yellow card. A second laugh will see them dealt a red card and booted out.

Those red carded comics then head across the hall and into the viewing room, where they can watch the remaining players alongside Jimmy and his co-host Roisin Conaty.

The format of the show originated in Japan and has since launched a German, Canadian and Australian spin-off.

An Irish version which aired last year was hosted by Graham Norton.

8 Out Of 10 Cats star Jimmy admitted he was ‘thrilled’ to be launching the show in the UK with Amazon.

He said: ‘I’m thrilled to be making with Prime Video. It’s sure to deliver and if it doesn’t, it will leave the fun with your neighbours.

‘Usually when I make a TV show with 10 brilliant comics, I’m expecting everyone to have a bloody good laugh – but not in this series.

‘The last one laughing wins. It’s a great format and it’s been a huge hit around the world.

‘I can’t wait to see who cracks up first.’

Last One Laughing arrived on Thursday on Prime Video, with more episodes dropping later this week
