A huge movie star looked completely unrecognisable with a bushy beard as he arrived in Italy to shoot new film on Monday.

The American actor, 54, looked very different with a long grey beard and moustache as he arrived at Trapani airport along with the cast of his new film.

Attempting to keep a low-key figure, he rocked a pair of sunglᴀsses and a black baseball cap as fans attempted to take selfies with him.

He cut a casual figure in a navy T-shirt which he teamed with blue denim jeans and white trainers. 

The star was joined by a host of famous faces who are also starring in the film as he arrived at the airport.

That’s right it’s Matt Damon! He has been steadily growing his beard in recent months for his upcoming role in Odysseus. 

He was joined by his Odysseus co-stars Tom Holland, Ryan Hurst and director Christopher Noland as they landed at Trapani airport in Italy on Monday.

Matt is portraying Odysseus, the legendary Greek king of Ithaca, in the anticipated new movie. 

The Universal Pictures ‘mythic action epic shooting across the world using brand new IMAX film technology’ is already scheduled to hit IMAX theaters on July 17, 2026.

Principal pH๏τography began last month in locations like the UK, Morocco, and Sicily, as well as Greece.

Recently film crews were also in the Moroccan village of Aït Benhaddou as cast members and extras flooded the area, including Christopher Nolan himself.

The ancient Moroccan region is no stranger to A-listers and has also featured in the likes of Gladiator II and Game Of Thrones.

On December 26, The InSneider reported that The Odyssey will have a $250M budget, making it ‘the most expensive film’ of 54-year-old Nolan’s career.

Oscar winner Anne Hathaway is rumored to be playing Odysseus’ wife, Queen of Ithaca Penelope, whom he’s eager to reunite with following a perilous journey back home.

Rumor has it that Tom Holland – whose famous fiancée Zendaya also plays a mystery role – will take on the part of Odysseus’ son Telemachus.

And Oscar winner Charlize Theron is said to be playing the witch goddess Circe in the 3K-year-old fantastical tale full of sirens and a cyclops.

The Odyssey ensemble cast also includes Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, Jon Bernthal, Benny Safdie, John Leguizamo, Elliot Page, Samantha Morton, Will Yun Lee, and Mia Goth.

The Odyssey was last memorably adapted for the silver screen by the Coen Brothers in their 2000 satirical musical O Brother, Where Art Thou? starring George Clooney.
