Rag’n’Bone Man has shared a sweet snap with his sister Lucy – who has Down syndrome as they raised awareness for a special needs charity on Saturday. 

The Human singer, 40, whose real name is Rory Charles Graham, posed with sibling Lucy to announce he was working with and raising money for Mencap on Instagram. 

Lucy sported some funky limited edition socks that featured animations of her famous younger brother shouting ‘Rock You’.

Rag’n’Bone Man created the socks with the hope to raise funds in aid of World Down Syndrome Day, as he put 40 pairs up for sale on Ebay at £15 a pair. 

All 40 pairs sold within just two days which meant he successfully raised over £600 for the charity. 

The artist revealed that Mancap is close to his heart due to his sister’s disability and has encouraged people ‘to get involved’ with raising awareness.

World Down Syndrome Day is marked each year on March 21, which has been officially observed by the United Nations since 2012.

Down syndrome is caused an extra chromosome by chance, because of a change in the sperm or egg before birth. 

It affects people in various degrees – Some people will be more independent and do things like get a job. Other people might need more regular care, according to the NHS.  

Alongside the sweet picture, he penned: ‘ROCK YOUR SOCKS for World Down Syndrome Day today⚡️

‘I’m really excited to start working with Mencap now, and more in the future – the work they do is so important to raise awareness and provide support for people with a learning disability. 

‘The socks are just a bit of fun, but I really hope everyone gets involved or can find their own way to support the amazing charity.

Before fame, Rag’n’Bone Man worked as a carer and he previously confessed that it was his understanding of his sister’s condition that helped him to love his former job. 

Speaking to Jamie Laing on his podcast Great Company, he revealed that he would also took care of some of his mother’s pals who also lived with the condition. 

He said on the show: ‘I ended up looking after some friends of my mum’s who had a son and daughter who were both Down syndrome, and they didn’t have a carer at the time.

‘I think they’d been through having different carers and and it didn’t really work out.

‘They just approached me and said ‘have you ever thought about doing this?’ because they knew Lucy was my sister. They knew each other.’

He continued: ‘I started working for the parents, looking after their two children. 

‘And then from there I looked after another lad who had Asperger’s syndrome and another guy who had Down syndrome, who was a bit older.

I had different people that I was looking after on different days of the week .And it was just a really fun job. Super, super fun but challenging at times.’
