Bachelorette alum Katie Thurston and comedian Jeff Arcuri have tied the knot.

The lovebirds got married in a simple and intimate ceremony in their own backyard with their dog Charlie and their parents in attendance.

After the vows were said, they adjourned for a celebratory dinner at DaAndrea in New York City.

The couple plan to have a bigger wedding with personalized vows when Katie beats cancer.

‘I want to be able to be in the hospital with her and just be like, “My wife’s in there.” There’s more power to that,’ Jeff told Us Weekly. ‘I don’t want to be not with you for any of this.’ 

Katie said: ‘It was this kind gesture of him saying, truly, in sickness and in health.’

Thurston and Arcuri met over Instagram when the reality TV star sent the comedian a clip of him to a friend exactly one year before they got married.

‘If you’ve ever looked at his page, you just can’t help but truly fall in love with him as a person. His personality — he’s so pure and just charming,’ she told the outlet.

‘So on March 22nd of last year, I sent a clip to my girlfriends. I had never talked to him. We had never met. I sent this clip and said, “Future husband.”

‘At the time, I didn’t realize, but I was manifesting my actual future husband, so when we were looking at dates, I was like, “Wait, it has to be March 22nd.”‘ 

After spending three to six hours a day on the phone, they met up for the first time on May 5, 2024 in Los Angeles. 

‘I’ve been in a handful of relationships. Obviously, you have too — on TV,’ Arcuri joked to Thurston before getting sentimental again. 

‘Sometimes when you’re in a relationship early on, you feel like you’re being dishonest or there’s a vibe of 10 percent things you don’t know about them yet.

‘I don’t want to be not with you for any of this.’ Katie said: ‘It was this kind gesture of him saying, truly, in sickness and in health’

‘And I never felt that with her. I felt that way [about] myself with her. I’ve always felt like an open book with you. There’s nothing I’d ever hide from you. There’s no reason to.’

Thurston agreed that they were both ‘fully ourselves’ from the beginning.

‘You’re the first person to not be upset with my goofiness,’ Arcuri continued. ‘I’ll dance and sing … and she’s the only person that’s ever been cheering me on for it and then videotaping me and joking with me about it as opposed to being like, “Oh my God, what are you doing right now?” I just love that too. You make me feel not stupid.’

When the outlet asked about how Katies stage three breast cancer diagnosis a few days before the wedding, Arcuri said.  ‘You would think it would cause more tribulation or problems between you, but it’s bonded us more than anything else, which is why we’re moving up the wedding a little bit. … We’re getting married in two days.’

Thurston recalled Arcuri’s ‘sweet sentiment of being there for me’ — becoming her husband before she begins her treatment on Thursday, March 27. 

‘It was so sweet. Obviously, we were wanting to plan a wedding and there’s a lot of emotions that come in with chemo and the impact and the health and we don’t know what the next year looks like,’ Thurston said. 

‘And one night he said, “I want to show you that I still love you and that I’m here to stay. I’ll get married to you tomorrow.”  We flew our parents in from Michigan and Washington State. We got our marriage license and a friend is just gonna marry us.’

Katie shared the news of her diagnosis last month, saying that she and Jeff were going to go to Hawaii and travel the world and then settle down in New York City, but her diagnosis changed their plans.

On Sunday, March  23, Katie posted a short video on her Instagram Stories. in it, she sat in a chair in a hospital with an IV line in her arm.

Arcuri sat in the other seat, smiling and trying to keep her spirits up.  

She captioned it: ‘Honeymoon at Columbia with some mocktails.’

Before she began treatment, Katie froze her eggs. Chemotherapy damages women’s fertility and she and Jeff hope to have kids in the future.

Katie recently revealed on the Almost Famous podcast with Ben Higgins and Ashley Iaconetti that she has undergone oncofertility, which she described as ‘IVF for people with cancer.’

‘Because with chemotherapy, it does impact your reproductive system in a negative way. So you want to be proactive and at least have options in the event that you can’t conceive naturally in the future,’ she explained.

‘Now, some women have told me they had cancer, [and when they became] cancer free, they were able to conceive naturally, but we didn’t want to hold on to that. 

‘So we did go through the whole IVF process and ended up freezing our embryos. As of right now, we have successfully six fertilized embryos,’ she shared.

She also shared that she hopes to save her left breast via a lumpectomy rather than having a double mastectomy. 

‘Especially at my age and my hopes to have a family and potentially even breastfeed, I think at the bare minimum, the left breast, which is not [cancerous] right now, it would be something I would hope to hang on to,’ Thurston said on the podcast.

‘But again, I have to put my health first, so it’s kind of case by case in the coming months, what ends up ultimately being the decision.

Thurston went on to explain that her insurance ‘covers reconstruction’ if she has to go the mastectomy route for her health. 

‘So you know, some women, I think also then go, “Yeah, if that, like it decreases the stress of reoccurrence and I get a boob job so be it,”‘ she shared.
