At 50, the former model—who first turned heads as the sultry lifeguard Wendy Peffercorn in the 1993 cult classic The Sandlot—looked effortlessly radiant, flashing a warm smile while running errands. 

Dressed casually in a crisp white Oxford shirt and jeans, she exuded laid-back charm as she left a dry cleaner, a far cry from the glamorous vixen she played alongside Denise Richards in the 2001 slasher Valentine.

She’s also come a long way from her days donning a sheriff’s uniform as Deputy Judy Hicks, the lovestruck officer pining for David Arquette’s Dewey in the Scream franchise. 

And after earning her scream queen stripes, she proved her range yet again, sharing the screen with Harrison Ford in the Yellowstone prequel 1923.

Back in 2018, Marley admitted she never expected The Sandlot—which premiered on April 1, 1993—to become the beloved classic it is today or that fans would still recognize her as the iconic lifeguard decades later.

‘I’m shocked! Initially, people liked the movie but nobody thought it was going to have the legs that it did and become this cult classic,’ she told UsWeekly. ‘I think it had something to do with it being this very coming-of-age story.’

Reflecting on its lasting appeal, she added, ‘It’s such a fun movie — there are so many great throwback moments. I think it’s still relatable. Something about baseball and adolescence and that simpler time in life, I think people really relate to.’

In the early 2000s, she starred in a string of successful films, including the horror thriller Valentine (2001) and the neo-noir crime film Sin City (2005).
