A Grammy-nominated artist has revealed that he was ‘tricked’ into doing therapy as both he and girlfriend await the birth of their first child together.

Teddy Swims, 32 – who is known for hit tracks such as Lose Control – opened up about the topic during an appearance on the Kyle & Jackie O Show on Thursday.

Earlier this year in January, Teddy and his partner Raiche Wright, 29, excitedly announced on Instagram that they are expecting baby number one alongside a series of pH๏τos.

Swims explained, ‘The thing is that, just like a good strong woman that she is, she kind of brought up the idea of doing couples therapy when she first got pregnant.

‘She was like, “We should just do this couple’s therapy together to make sure our communication is good.” Not that there’s issues, but to get better.’

Teddy then playfully joked, ‘And then the next thing you know, like a few weeks later, I find myself in solo therapy with a therapist. And I was like, she tricked me into therapy.’

The discussion began when the singer – whose real name is Jaten Collin Dimsdale – shared that he has been doing therapy. 

‘Me and my girl, you know, as we’re about to have a baby, we started doing therapy together too. So, you know, getting prepared for the best communication and stuff.’

Swims continued, ‘I’m in therapy. I’ve tried therapy. It’s been great. Solo therapy and couple’s therapy. We’re doing the whole nine dogs.’  

Elsewhere during the interview, the performer also shared that both he and Raiche have plans to raise their baby – who is due in June – in Nashville. 

When it comes to preparations, the star expressed that he has taken some time off and shared, ‘All of next month in April I get off, because my baby’s due in June.

‘So, we’re buying a house currently in Nashville and I get time to kind of set up shop and set up home and, you know, build the home.’ 

Teddy added, ‘And I’ve got all of June off. I pushed a bunch of stuff back so I can be there for my baby to be born for most of June and July.’ 

Swims – who was born in Georgia – stated that he could easily still travel from Nashville to Georgia for work which is just a four hour drive, and his family could also drive up to the city to visit them as well. 

He then playfully joked, ‘And then the next thing you know, like a few weeks later, I find myself in solo therapy with a therapist. And I was like, she tricked me into therapy’ 

Elsewhere during the interview, the performer also shared that both he and Raiche have plans to raise their baby – who is due in June – in Nashville; seen in January in NYC 

‘You know, I want to be at least like four hours from my parents. My parents can drive up on the weekends, [and they’re] going to stay with us. And he gets raised with his Southern accent and says, “Yea ma’am, no sir,” and all that stuff.’

In one pH๏τo, the singer could be seen cradling Wright’s baby bump as they lounged on the sandy shore of a tropical destination.

In the caption of the post, Raiche – who is also a music artist – typed out, ‘We can’t wait to meet you baby.’

She donned a red and white-patterned ʙικιɴι top and matching bottoms to show off her burgeoning stomach while resting on the beach.

In another snap, the mom-to-be struck a pose as she stepped into the cool water and turned to the side to give her fans another glimpse of her bump.

The last image was taken as the couple – who were first linked last year – cozied up together on a lounge chair. Swims placed a loving kiss on her head as Wright flashed a cheerful smile.

Teddy and Raiche were first linked earlier last year in February 2024 when they were spotted at a pre-Grammys party together – although it is not known when the pair initially crossed paths.

Afterwards, the singers were seen on various outings together and in May, Swims invited Wright on stage to sing with him during a concert in Dublin, Ireland.

Months later in October, the two stars attended the 2nd Annual Rare Impact Fund event in Los Angeles.

Swims and Wright cozied up together during a brief pH๏τo session at the event hosted by Selena Gomez, and at one point, the songstress was pictured laying a kiss on his cheek.

Back in July 2024, Teddy confirmed his relationship with Raiche during a past appearance on The Kyle & Jackie O Show.

At the time, he said of Raiche: ‘She does what I do, which is great. 

‘Because it’s like maybe 3 a.m. and I’m calling her and she’s like “Yeah, yeah I’m in a session. I’m recording vocals.” And I’m like, “Girl, yeah, handle your business, baby.”‘

On the episode, Teddy also got candid about abuse that he experienced during a past relationship with a female ex.

Back in July 2024, Teddy confirmed his relationship with Raiche during a past appearance on The Kyle & Jackie O Show; seen in October 2024 in L.A. 

He explained that his song, The Door, explores his experiences as a victim of abuse from a partner.

‘The lyrics go “I saved my life when I showed you the door.” I was in a relationship at the time that was really killing me.’

The star added, ‘I know a lot more men on the planet are abusive, but it can also be the opposite way too. I was getting abused for a bit and it was tough.’

Swims eventually split from his ex, but shared that he maintains a healthy friendship with her.

On the episode, Teddy also got candid about abuse that he experienced during a past relationship with a female ex; seen in February in L.A. 

‘We are now like “hi” from a distance. It doesn’t matter how much you love someone, sometimes you just don’t blend together.’

‘I stayed in it way too long because I loved the person. I could believe that somebody was going to turn around, this was over a year ago,’ the performer continued.

And during an interview on the Pucker Up Show that same month, Raiche also gave a little insight to her relationship with Swims.

‘He’s a good partner. He’s fun, he’s got a good atтιтude all the time and everything we do together is fun.’
