Sydney Sweeney just signed on produce and star in a Gone Girl-style thriller called I Pretended to Be a Missing Girl, which Warner Bros. won the rights to in a compeтιтive bidding war.
Surprisingly, the source material came from English high school teacher Joe Cote, who wrote a wild short story on Reddit in 2021 about a homeless drifter who pretends she’s missing woman Mikayla Murray in order to rob her family, but everything goes awry.
The 27-year-old Euphoria stunner was the one who enlisted Oscar-winning screenwriter Eric Roth – who penned Dune, Killers of the Flower Moon, and Forrest Gump – to adapt the Reddit short story for the big screen.
Sydney will likely also bring on board her Fifty-Fifty Films producing partner and fiancé of three years – Jonathan Davino – whom she’s been dating as far back as 2018.
