Paddy McGuinness has revealed the devastating reason why ‘pure and lovely’ Take Me Out could never be brought back, despite its widespread popularity.
The dating show, which was hosted by the 51-year-old, aired between 2010 and 2019 on ITV.
Take Me Out saw a single man reveal himself in a studio in front of 30 single women – and if they liked what they saw, they would keep their podium light on, until there was just one woman left.
And after going through a number of rounds, the single man would leave hand in hand with his new lover and enjoy a date on the Isle of Fernandos.
The programme was a huge hit over the nine years that it was on our screens, but unfortunately, former Top Gear host Paddy insists that it couldn’t get a reboot.
Speaking on the Table Manners podcast, Paddy said: ‘I think the way things are in the world now, in media, we live in a very strange time where if you’re saying something jokey or something not serious or whatever, it gets taken out of context, put online, and there’s a spin on everything.

‘And I think Take Me Out, because it was so kind of pure, lovely, fun and on a Saturday night, and we had a laugh – that was of its time.
‘I think if you did it now, I hope I’m wrong, but I think if you did it now, there’d be that many bloody things going, “oh, you can’t do that.”
‘”You can’t say this,” and take things out of context and what have you.
‘Because essentially, it’s a family, Saturday night entertainment show.’
Take Me Out fans were treated to 110 episodes across 11 series.
It is the show where Paddy coined the iconic term ‘no likey, no lighty.’
The star also thinks that his age would work against him nowadays.
He added: ‘You know, I’m 51 now. And you know, at the time I was like late 30s, early 40s.

‘And I think now if I’m talking to a 20-year-old girl and they ask me about dating…
‘I don’t really know the latest funny trends or anything.’
