The Last Of Us star Bella Ramsey revealed they were ‘properly in love’ while filming season two of the hit HBO Max show – amid a rumored romance with Maisy Stella. 

The star, 21 – who also shared that they were diagnosed with autism amidst shooting the first season of the hit series – briefly opened up about their love life during an interview with British Vogue for its April 2025 issue. 

Ramsey – who uses they/them pronouns – told the outlet that they were ‘properly in love’ during the production of the upcoming season of The Last Of Us, which is set to begin airing next month on April 13.   

While the star did not further elaborate on details, Bella explained how it resonated with their own character Ellie’s storyline in season two. 

According to British Vogue, Ellie develops a love interest with close friend Dina (Isabela Merced) in the future episodes and Ramsey expressed, ‘Experiencing that while I was filming the show was really special.’ 

The Game Of Thrones alum first sparked relationship speculation with Stella, also 21, last year – with the pair both liking and commenting on each other’s Instagram posts.

The My Old A** actress additionally shared a birthday tribute to the star to celebrate their 21st birthday.

Alongside a snap of Bella, Stella added the caption: ‘Beautiful beautiful beautiful happy birthday the coolest comfiest most wonderful human imaginable.’

While talking to Elle for a past interview in 2023, the British-born actor discussed giving themselves ‘labels.’ 

They explained, ‘I have labels that I ᴀssign to myself. It’s just, publicly, I am hesitant to talk about what those are, because there are still some things that – I’m, I guess, becoming comfortable with and figuring out.

‘Actually, I think I’ve probably figured it out, but becoming comfortable with and owning, I suppose.’ 

Ramsey continued, ‘I think people who can publicly talk about who they are, I think that’s incredibly brave and I look up to those people, but it’s not the sort of thing that I can do yet, really.’ 

Back in 2023, Bella also made rare comments about their Sєxuality while previously talking to British Vogue.

At the time, they Hilda star expressed to the publication that they are ‘not 100 per cent straight.’

The actor said, ‘You never fully know who you are, it’s ever evolving. But I certainly think that people have gathered that I’m not 100 per cent straight. I’m a little bit wavy, you know? That’s what I like to say.’

When it comes to relationships, Ramsey had also stated, ‘I’m 19, so figuring that out’s gonna be a part of my life. 

‘Relationships are so complex anyway, and if you’re in the public eye, everyone having an opinion about them adds an extra layer of difficulty.’

Bella came out as non-binary in 2022, but they admitted to being concerned that they would have been viewed as simply trying to be ‘trendy’ beforehand. 

‘But it’s a very succinct way to describe to people who I am. Now I’m able to vocalize it more; being called “they” is the most truthful thing for me. That’s who I am the most.’ 

During an interview with Advocate last year, Maisy also opened up about labels and said, ‘I also think labels are tricky. I grew up in a very lucky way and a way that I know is not everyone’s experience. 

‘I really was never pressured to put a label on myself, and I was always what I am. I was always open and I was always queer, but I was never forced into anything.’

Ramsey is preparing for the release of the second season of The Last Of Us – which will hit HBO Max next month beginning on April 13. 

Bella will reprise their role of Ellie while Pedro Pascal also returns as the character of Joel in the series. 

Other stars that have since joined the cast include Isabela Merced, Kaitlyn Dever, Young Mazino and Tati Gabrielle. 

During an interview with Screen Rant at the SXSW Festival earlier this month in Austin, Ramsey teased what viewers can expect from Ellie and Joel’s relationship in the new season. 

‘Definitely some trust issues developed. [They’re] in a very different place than we’re used to them being like with each other,’ they explained. 

‘You get to know why that is, and that gets explored. Ellie’s 19 when we meet her this season. She was 14 in the last one, so she’s done a lot of growing up in her teenage years.’ 

Merced also talked to the outlet and discussed taking on the role of Dina alongside Bella in season two. ‘It kind of mirrored real life, in a way.

‘I felt really lucky to have Bella, and I think Ellie’s really lucky to have Dina – like a ride or die, somebody who’s willing to fight, somebody she’s going to suffer with after nine months in the cold, and [with] all the weather and stuff.’

Mazin later added, ‘I think you probably should expect the unexpected. We won’t always do the things you think we’re going to do. Sometimes we do the things you thought we were going to do in a different way, at a different time.’ 

‘All I can say is that if you give us your trust, by the time we get to the end of the season, I think you’ll be happy.’
