Jamie Laing became emotional after completing day three of his gruelling Ultra Marathons challenge for Comic Relief.

The BBC Radio 1 presenter, 36, has now raised an incredible £270,000 in donations, with Vick Hope sharing the good news with Jamie on air on Wednesday.

He is taking on five Ultra Marathons in five days – a total of 150 miles – he aims to finish in Salford, Manchester on Friday, March 21.

As Jamie finished another tough day of his challenge, his supportive wife Sophie Habboo, 30, was waiting for him at Loughborough University.

Jamie looked emotional as he fell to the ground, before being embraced by Sophie and cheered on by pals.

Taking to Instagram to reflect on day three, Jamie wrote: ‘Day 3 done – if I’m totally honest I didn’t think I would get through today. At 25km’s I thought I couldn’t go further, mentally and physically I was completely done.

‘I have never experienced pain like this before. It has felt like I have been running on glᴀss, and my mind was being pretty negative, but every time I wanted to quit I would have a moment that spurred me on – a cheer, a donation, something!!

‘I have more graтιтude for the support I’ve been shown that I will ever be able to find the words for. This is the hardest thing I have ever done, but it would be 1000 times harder alone.

‘Tomorrow we go again… Thank you so much for your support, thank you for every donation. Truly thank you!! If you feel like donating, only if you can there is the link in my bio.

‘Thank you so much to everyone!! You guys are amazing❤️’

Jamie got a well-needed boost during the second leg of his run this morning after it was revealed that Radio 1 listeners had upped the donations to £180,000, when he was surprised by this year’s Traitors winners, Leanne Quigley and Jake Brown.

The trio ran together from the first pit stop to the second, bringing some much-needed fun and energy to Jamie’s day.

Wednesday’s route will see Jamie run from Market Harborough, through Wigston, Leicester, and completing his day at a very special finish line at Loughborough University – welcomed in by special guests, students and locals to celebrate him being over halfway through the challenge.

The money raised for Radio 1’s Ultra Marathon Man with Jamie for Red Nose Day will provide vital funds that could help put food on plates and roofs over heads, keep little ones safe and help support families affected by conflict here in the UK and around the world.

Jamie has set expectations high after completing day one of the ultra marathon in an impressive 5hours and 44minutes and burned over 4,000 calories.

Jamie’s spirits were further lifted at the finish line when he was surprised by his mum, who cheered him on with open arms.

To make the moment even more special, the Mayor of Kettering, Cllr Craig Skinner, presented Jamie with an honorary half-marathon lanyard as a symbolic gift of appreciation for his relentless effort.

‘It’s a small token of our appreciation really, this is something that took place last week – our first half marathon in Kettering. So, we’d like to give it to you as a symbolic gift of your struggle’, said the Mayor.

Radio 1’s Ultra Marathon Man with Jamie Laing for Red Nose Day will be broadcast live on Radio 1 and BBC Sounds across the week, with video highlights on Radio 1’s social channels.

The charity challenge comes days after Jamie revealed he had been robbed again, just a week after his West London home was nearly burgled.

Jamie and his wife Sophie were woken up at 6am to loud bangs as balaclava-wearing intruders tried to break into their home.

Following the terrifying ordeal, Jamie was subjected to another attempted robbery as someone broke into his car outside his home.

Speaking on his Radio 1 show, Jamie said: ‘So, I live in London, I was with my wife Sophie and we went to get in our car.

‘It’s parked around the place we live, and it’s London right, things maybe go missing occasionally or whatever.

‘I walked up to the car, and the car looked a little bit funny, the door was slightly open, and I was like, “hang on a second, has someone managed to get into the car?”

‘Came up to the car and we had been robbed.

‘They left the pineapple in one seat and the melon in another seat.

‘I said to my wife, “did you leave these in the car?” and she was like, “no?”, so I don’t know if it’s a sign or the mark they leave.’

The Made In Chelsea stars used to rent in Chelsea before moving out of the area after buying a family home in Notting Hill last year.

Speaking about their home invasion on their Newly Weds podcast, Jamie admitted he was ‘ʙuтт naked’ when he heard loud noises and leapt into action.

‘At 5:45 am, I heard this boom, boom, boom, and I was like, “What the hell is that?”‘ he said. ‘Sophie was still fast asleep next to me. So I got up, completely naked, and went downstairs to check.

‘I looked out the front of our apartment – nothing. No delivery, no people, completely dark. But then I went to our sitting room and looked out the window.

‘I always sleep with the window open, and I suddenly saw someone trying to break into the flat below, wearing a balaclava.

‘I thought I would go full Rambo mode, but instead, I just panicked and started going, ‘Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God!’

Jamie quickly called the police, to which he added: ‘I asked them how long the response time was, if we needed to get out of the house.

‘I was freaking out. I even went downstairs and lay down against our front door, using my whole body as a human door wedge.’
