David Mitchell has shared his hopes for Ludwig season two and said he hopes to deliver ‘more of the same’ in the second instalment of the hit show.
The Peep Show star, 50, said he loves beginning a project knowing the bare minimum so it is as much of a ‘surprise’ to him as the audience.
Ludwig proved to be an instant hit when it dropped in September, gathering a whopping 10 million viewers in its first month on BBC One and iPlayer.
It was soon given the green light for a second season, which is set to begin filming later this year in Cambridge.
David told The Hollywood Reporter: ‘The scripts are being written now, and it wouldn’t help any viewers to know any more about it than that.
‘We will be shooting this year.’

The actor added: ‘Our hope and aim is to give more of the same: the ongoing, intriguing narrative and the same weekly, resolved mystery.
‘Other than that, I don’t really know much more, but I’m also under instructions not to say any more!
‘I’m big on going into a programme knowing only the bare minimum because surprise is a huge part of entertainment.’
David was speaking ahead of the show’s release on Britbox on March 20, which will introduce the drama to US audiences.
While it’s not known how the show will go down across the pond, the actor said the fact ‘it’s so overtly British’ will appeal to anyone with that ‘sensibility’.
David explained that the show is exactly the type of telly he has enjoyed watching his entire life.

He said: ‘The world is changing in frightening ways.
‘Therefore places like Cambridge are reᴀssuring because, overwhelmingly, the place looks identical [as before].’
David aid of his own puzzle-solving abilities: ‘I don’t think I’m particularly good at them…
‘They take me longer than I feel they should and I have no interest in Sudoku at all.’
