Hollyoaks star Ciara Janson has launched an extraordinary attack on her winner husband Mans Zelmerlöw amid their bitter divorce.

The singer, 38, who won the Eurovision Song Contest in 2015 with his hit Heroes, has been married to actress Ciara, 37, for five years. They share two sons, Albert, six, and Ossian, two. Ciara also shares a son called Archie from a previous relationship.

After news of their divorce broke in Sweden, where they live, Ciara launched into a furious denunciation of the singer she accuses of toxic behaviour and being unfaithful.  

She wrote: ‘I have stayed quiet and protected my ex-husband for too long.

‘To stop speculation, I filed for divorce in the UK so I could keep this private. As it seems that is no longer possible, it’s important I speak my truth and finally stand my ground.

‘My children have and always will be my upmost priority, and I will do everything I can to protect them, and be the mother they deserve.

‘I cannot allow my family to live in a hostile environment and be exposed to drug abuse, emotional, physical abuse and endless infidelity anymore.

‘I encourage anyone who is in a similar situation to seek help and support, and find the strength to take control of your life. Everyone deserves happiness and freedom.’

Ciara went on to say that, although she and Mans are parting ways, she wishes him well for the future and hopes he ‘seeks help’.

She wrote: ‘I wish Mans all the best for his future endeavours, and I hope he seeks the help he so desperately needs. Whilst this chapter is closing, I wish him nothing but a path toward a better future. 

‘I truly appreciate all the love and support during this unavoidably difficult time. Thank you.’

The post caused a sensation in Sweden where they are very well known.

Zelmerlöw’s lawyer Hanna Lindblom later responded to Ciara’s accusations.

She told Sweden’s Expressen newspaper: ‘It is extremely serious to make these types of accusations.

Taking to Instagram after the news of their separation became public, Ciara claimed she had experienced abuse and ‘endless infidelity’ in her marriage

‘It’s not unusual for one of the parties in a divorce to make accusations. But I would say that it’s extremely serious to make these types of accusations. We can’t say much at this point.’

She added: ‘Måns’ focus right now is the well-being of the children. That’s his only focus. He only exists for the children, he keeps it together for them.’

Mans and Ciara tied the knot in 2019 after meeting in 2016 and the couple share two sons, Albert, six, and Ossian, two. Ciara also shares a son called Archie from a previous relationship.

But it emerged on Tuesday that the pair have called it quits after Mans filed for divorce.

Under Swedish law, as the couple have two children they will have six months to consider the divorce before it is granted.

A source said: ‘It is correct that Måns Zelmerlöw has recently filed for divorce from Ciara.

It is of course a difficult decision to make, not least for a parent of young children who is also a public figure.

‘We now appeal for understanding and consideration that Måns and Ciara have two young children together. The family needs privacy in order to best handle this situation.’

Ciara is best known for her role as Nicole Owen on Hollyoaks which she played from 2004 to 2007 and then again in 2019.  

Mans began dating Hollyoaks star Ciara in 2016 after he split from Swedish singer and model Marie Serneholt – who he dated for three years until 2011.

Cara and Mans later announced their engagement and in December 2017, they revealed they were expecting their first child. 

Ciara gave birth to their first son in May 2018, which Mans announced via social media.

The couple finally tied the knot in September 2019 and in August 2022, Mans announced on Instagram that Ciara had given birth to their second son. 

The pair lived on a vineyard Staffanstorp during their relatioship but Ciara travelled back to England every other week to see her son from a previous relationship.

Heartthrob Mans won with the electro-pop ballad Heroes in 2015, giving Sweden it’s sixth win in Eurovision history. 

It came three years after Sweden won in 2012 with Euphoria by Loreen and now gets to host the contest again next year. Loreen went on to win the show again in 2023.

After his win, Mans went on to host the 2016 compeтιтion in Stockholm alongside Swedish TV presenter Petra Mede.
