Lily Allen is gearing up for a major musical comeback, reuniting with Grammy-winning producer Greg Kurstin in a bid to release her first album in seven years.

Determined to reignite her music career, Lily is eager to reclaim her spot in the pop world.

Kurstin, who played a pivotal role in Lily’s breakout success with hits like Smile, The Fear, and her cover of Somewhere Only We Know, co-produced her acclaimed debut album Alright, Still and fully helmed her 2009 follow-up It’s Not Me, It’s You.

Since then, the American songwriter has achieved mᴀssive success working with superstars such as Adele, Kylie Minogue, and Harry Styles.

Now, he’s eager to help Lily, 39, show off her signature sound.

After a tumultuous decade marked by personal struggles and a hedonistic lifestyle that took a toll on her mental health, the mother-of-two has found herself unable to release new music since 2018’s No Shame.

However, sources close to the singer reveal she is still under contract with BMG, a deal signed over four years ago, and the label is eager for her to deliver new material.

A music industry source shared: ‘Greg and Lily worked brilliantly together in the past.

‘There’s no reason they can’t rediscover that magic formula for coming up with brilliant songs once again.

‘No-one is putting pressure on Lily to come up with new material. But she is clearly so talented, and the view is it would be a mᴀssive shame if she didn’t fulfill her musical ambitions.’

Lily’s plans for a provocative, tell-all album in 2021 detailing how she had been mistreated by a string of previous boyfriends were shelved due to legal complications.

But her recent success with her Miss Me? podcast and a sold-out show at Hackney Empire with her childhood friend Miquita Oliver have reignited interest in her music career.

BMG chiefs are understood to be keen for Lily to bring out new music, as they previously feared she was struggling with writer’s block.

‘Lily needs to prove she’s musically relevant again,’ another source added.

In recent years, Lily also found success on stage, making her professional theatre debut in 2:22 – A Ghost Story at London’s Noel Coward Theatre.

However, her recent split from Stranger Things husband David Harbour prompted her to step back from her podcast and seek mental health support in rehab.

At her Hackney Empire event earlier this month, Allen candidly reflected: ‘Marriage is a contract, which is very difficult to get out of… and very painful.’
