The Apprentice’s Frederick Afrifa has revealed the ‘real reason’ he was sensationally fired before making it to the boardroom in a history-making elimination that left him ‘incredibly shocked’.
Thursday’s instalment of the BBC show saw the motivational speaker, 29, AND Kier Shave, 27, hear the dreaded words said by Alan Sugar.
The two teams were tasked with creating a brand new banking app, alongside a money box aimed for six to nine year-olds – and unfortunately Frederick’s team Ascendancy lost out on all three major investors because they lacked an educational element to their product.
But before Frederick could even bring anyone back to the boardroom, he was given the boot.
Speaking exclusively to MailOnline about the shocking decision, Frederick said: ‘He says the “at least thing one every task”, so I’m always like, OK, cool, maybe more than one person.

‘I think it is an Apprentice first, so I’ve created some history there, which is pretty decent, I guess… looking on the bright side.
‘It was an incredible shock. He said, “look, you know how it works, you’re gonna bring back two people”.
‘I picked the two people and then two minutes later, I’m in a taxi. I think, “wait, what, what happened there?”
‘And what I’ve been saying is that the first thing I thought of is, I know he’s a big Spurs fan and perhaps it was Europa League that night and he just wanted to get to the stadium and just get off set…’
Team Ascendancy was led my Frederick and he was joined by Kier, and Mia Collins, and they had to do the branding of their product and create the money box.
While Dean Franklin was put as sub team leader on the app team with Anisa Khan and Melica Moshiri.
They created their product – Strong Savers – which had a dog money box and a logo of a pup’s collar.
The next day, Frederick wanted Kier to do consumer research, but he wanted to do the pitch, so the consumer research team consisted of Dean, Mia and Anisa, while the rest pitched.

He said to Frederick: ‘Look my gut feeling tells me you’ve got a lot to answer Frederick.
‘I don’t like wasting my time.
‘I think you led a bad team, the dynamics of the team is terrible at the moment, listening to everybody.
‘You missed an opportunity of £1.1 million, you got no orders at all.
‘So Frederick, with regret, you’re fired.’
The remaining members of the team, Dean, Kier, Melica, Anisa, and Mia had to step outside so that a decision could be made about who was going home.
Lord Sugar brutally told the candidates: ‘I’m exhausted talking about this task quite frankly.
‘I’m still trying to find out, Kier, what you did.’

At the end of the instalment, Lord Sugar made his decision and sent Kier home after being ‘sick and tired’ of discussing what went wrong in the task
The telemarketing company owner – who owns Parallel Partnerships – explained that his skill set is on sales and pitching, but the business mogul pointed out that he didn’t manage to get anyone to invest in his product.
He later asked why he shouldn’t fire him, to which he replied: ‘Just looking at my track record, when it comes to pitching and selling, I have always done well.’
Lord Sugar replied: ‘What went wrong this time?,’ to which Kier said: ‘It was the educational element.’
He pointed out that Dean had taken responsibility for the app, and asked if he took responsibility for the pitch and Kier replied: ‘I take responsibility in talking about the app in the pitch’.
At the end of the instalment, Lord Sugar made his decision and sent Kier home after being ‘sick and tired’ of discussing what went wrong in the task.
He said: ‘Kier, I’m sorry there’s no excuse you were pitching.
‘I think that the pitch was the reason the task failed.
‘So I’ve concluded that I have got nowhere else to go on this…
Speaking to MailOnline, Kier said: ‘I did have a bad feeling coming back in because it had just suddenly, suddenly turned on me at the end. I was a little bit nerve-wracked at that point’ (pictured)
‘Kier, you’re fired.’
And the Leeds lad had a feeling that it was going to be him before it had even happened.
Speaking exclusively to MailOnline, Kier said: ‘When Fred was fired, I did at that point start to think, “Oh God, it could be my time here”, because out of nowhere it just suddenly turned on me.
‘Fred then got fired, and then he was going on about not really understanding who’s to blame, and we were all kind of sat there thinking like, we were all blaming the app team.
