Holly Willoughby fondly reflects on her 2025 Dancing On Ice hosting gig as she shows off all her glitzy outfits from the season – amid show axing rumours

Holly Willoughby has fondly looked back at her time on Dancing On Ice this year amid claims the ITV show could be axed in a matter of days.

The final of the skating compeтιтion aired on Sunday night and saw Coronation Street actor Sam Aston and his skating partner Molly Lanaghan take home the crown.

But just hours after the finale aired on screens, it was claimed that the long-running series could be axed amid plummeting ratings.

Following the news, Holly took to Instagram to share a video looking back at her time hosting the 2025 instalment of the show, but failed to mention the rumours.

The TV presenter, 44, re-shared a video posted by the Dancing On Ice account which showed off all of her very glamorous on-screen outfits from the season.

The humorous video saw her engage in a TikTok trend which sees a man walk past and effortlessly pick up their girlfriend – literally sweeping them off their feet – before walking off screen with them.

She got involved with the trend alongside DOI judge Ashley Banjo, who walked on screen to repeatedly sweep Holly away as her co-host Stephen Mulhern watched on.

They had filmed the amusing segment during every episode, with Holly sporting an array of very elegant gowns in the slideshow footage.

Her outfits included a figure-hugging black gown with a metallic bodice, a glittering gold sequinned gown and a stunning red strapless gown.

Holly also sported a princess-style pink ballroom gown as she dressed up as Glinda from Wicked, while Stephen was painted green as he embodied Elphaba for movie week.

‘Dancing on Ice 2025 fit check complete,’ a caption read.

The 2025 series wrapped up on Sunday night but DOI was quickly hit by rumours that it could be axed after haemorrhaging over a million viewers in the last two years.

A source told The Sun: ‘Viewing figures are remarkably less than they were but they still had almost three million watch the launch show.

‘There’s no denying, though, that the format has become tired and they’re not getting the big names they once did.’

They claimed ‘changes are needed’ on the show, which launched in 2006, to give it a ‘new lease of life’ but that staff aren’t ‘holding out much hope’.

‘The show’s future hinges on the meetings that follow last night’s finale,’ they added.

Last week, another source claimed there are ‘very real fears’ that it is the end of the road for DOI following the 2025 series.

They told The Mirror: ‘It’s had a good run for nearly 20 years and has a very loyal set of viewers who really love it but the sad truth is there’s just not enough of them.

‘We need bums on seats but the ratings have dropped to a point where it’s difficult to justify the cost.’

The future of Dancing On Ice was thrown into doubt ahead of the 2025 series after head judges Torvill and Dean revealed they are ready to retire before performing one last time on Sunday’s final.

An ITV spokeswoman told the publication: ‘The Dancing on Ice team is fully concentrating on the much anticipated series finale this coming Sunday and therefore no decision has been made.’

ITV insiders said Holly is ‘busy with other commitments’ and she has turned down a lucrative deal with ITV to front a new series of the classic game show You Bet! after finding a global audience on Celebrity Bear Hunt.

Last night, Ms Willoughby hosted what may have been her last ever Dancing on Ice amid rumours it could be axed amid declining viewership

The series, which is hosted by Holly Willoughby and Stephen Mulhern, has lost over a million viewers in the last two years with staff told the ‘tired’ show which launched in 2006 is ‘over’.

Holly impressed bosses at Netflix so much that insiders there say they are ‘very keen’ to work with her more on shows which would be screened across the world.

A source told the Mail: ‘You Bet was so popular with the viewers wished it came back for two shows that ITV bosses decided to give it a full run.

‘Holly and Stephen are a great double act and they were both brilliant so they were asked back.

‘But Holly politely declined, she has other commitments and couldn’t make it work.

‘She is in demand and now she isn’t shackled to This Morning four days a week, she is able to look at more options, some are global.

‘Celebrity Bear Hunt was a huge thing for her, her first role with Netflix and she just loved it and they loved her so there could very well be much more where that came from.

‘The world is now Holly’s oyster, there are so many opportunities for her.’
