The Vivienne’s life and legacy is set to be honoured in a brand new documentary, it has been announced.
The RuPaul’s Drag Race star, whose real name was James Lee Williams, tragically pᴀssed away in January at the age of 32.
And in the wake of the heartbreaking tragedy, a new programme тιтled Dear Viv will document The Vivienne’s incredible journey to stardom, starting from their beginnings in North Wales to their success of Drag Race.
Dear Viv will also look at their personal life, their contributions to the LGBTQ+ community and will also feature archive footage, letters from fans and interviews with The Vivienne’s loved ones.
Fellow Drag Race stars including Baga Chipz, Danny Beard and Michael Marouli will also feature.
Emmy-award winning World of Wonder, the winning media company behind the Drag Race franchise, will produce the documentary which is set to premiere on WOW Presents Plus later this year.

Announcing the documentary, World of Wonder co-founders and executive producers Randy Barbato and Fenton Bailey shared: ‘We want to celebrate The Vivienne’s extraordinary life and work so everyone can experience her incredible talent, sᴀss and enormous heart.
‘Although her stay here on Earth was far too brief, it is with tremendous admiration and affection that we share her legacy in Dear Viv.
The Vivienne sH๏τ to wider fame after winning the first series of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK back in 2019.
They competed in the seventh season of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars in 2022, the only UK contestant for that series..
A year later they made history as the first drag performer to compete in Dancing On Ice, eventually finishing in third place.
During their career, they also starred in BBC Three show The Vivienne Takes On Hollywood in 2020, and appeared on Channel 4’s Celebrity Hunted For Stand Up To Cancer in 2022.
The performer, who was born in Wales, adopted their drag name as they were known for wearing Vivienne Westwood clothing.
The Vivienne was found ᴅᴇᴀᴅ by their heartbroken father and stepmother on the first weekend of January, a friend claimed.

Cheshire Police said officers were called to an address in Chorlton-by-Backford at 12.22pm on Sunday January 5 following reports of a sudden death.
Officers said that they found ‘no suspicious circumstances’.
The news of Williams’ death was announced by their publicist Simon Jones, who described Williams as an ‘incredibly loved’ and ‘amazing person’.
Tributes quickly poured in from co-stars, friends and loved ones.
Born in Colwyn Bay, Wales, in April 1992, Williams grew up watching Lily Savage on TV, citing that as their first exposure to drag.
Describing Wales as a ‘big-fish-in-a-small-pond situation’, the star moved to Liverpool aged 16 to pursue a career as a makeup artist, first working on the beauty counter in Debenhams.
It was there that they earned their nickname The Vivienne for dressing entirely in Vivienne Westwood, developing their budding pᴀssion for drag while going out with friends in the evenings.

At the inaugural Metro Pride Awards, held at the Grand Connaught Rooms, The Vivienne was honoured with the Icon Award for their groundbreaking contribution to drag, queer visibility, and advocacy.

‘James loved being a part of the entertainment world and I know he would’ve been happy… I know he would have absolutely loved tonight’s events,’ Lee said.
‘When he was nominated for the Metro award for rising star last year he was honoured and made up to be here. So whilst it is extremely bittersweet to be here without him, being under this roof meant the world to him.
‘Thank you to everyone for your huge love and support to James and an amazing night. Thank you so much.’
