Bradley Walsh threw his head in his hands after a contestant on The Chase fought back the tears after giving ‘the most mental answer ever’ on Tuesday evening.
The most recent episode of the ITV show saw host Bradley Walsh welcome Ben, Jolene, Alfie and Maria take on Jenny Ryan AKA The Vixen.
Sales director Maria was the fourth and final player to take on the Chaser and she managed to bag £5,000 in the cash builder round.
In the next round, when taking on the Chaser, she decided to go with the highest option of £65,000, rather than £-1,000 or £5,000.
Maria answer all of the questions correctly and certainly impressed Bradley.
He asked: ‘You’re a good player. Are you a quizzer?’

Maria replied with a laugh: ‘No.’
But then one question ruined her chances after Bradley asked: ‘In 2019, researchers discovered the first genetic evidence that insects feel what?’
The options were between pain, love and remorse.
Maria confessed: ‘I don’t know. I panicked.’
She answered love, while The Vixen chose pain – which was the correct answer.
As Bradley read out the answer, he said: ‘You knew that. You knew that.’
Maria, fighting back the tears, replied: ‘I thought that would be too obvious.’
The Vixen told her: ‘You overthought that. You saw 2019 and thought ‘surely by then we already knew?’ I think it’s the genetic breakdown.

Maria then walked off set as her co-player took on The Vixen.
