Demi Moore’s Oscar loss did not just stun countless fans, but also Jack Antonoff.

Antonoff, 40, who is married to Moore’s The Substance co-star Margaret Qualley, appeared shocked immediately after Mikey Madison was named the winner of Best Actress rather than Moore, 62, who was heavily tipped to receive the gong.

Antonoff, who was seated behind Moore, appeared momentarily confounded as Mikey’s name was announced before turning to his wife, 30. 

The moment did not go unnoticed by various eagle-eyed fans, with one video of his reaction going viral on X and achieving over two million views.

Moore has since broken her silence on the Oscars loss with video of her glamorous awards show prep. 

She congratulated Mikey on the achievement, adding she can’t ‘wait to see what you do next.’

‘As this awards season comes to a close, I’m so overwhelmed with graтιтude for this journey,’ she captioned the Instagram reel. ‘It’s been the ride of a lifetime and we’re just getting started! So grateful for my team, my fellow nominees, and everyone who has made this experience so full of joy and light.’

She gave Substance director Coralie Fargeat and co-star Margaret shout-outs, calling it an ‘honor’ to have worked on the film with them.

Demi broke her silence on the snub in video posted to her Instagram on Monday, where she congratulated Mikey on her victory 

Demi was heavily tipped to bag the coveted Best Actress gong after playing Elisabeth Sparkle, a once-celebrated actress who is fired from her aerobics show job after she turns 50.

But things take a dangerous turn after she takes a black-market drug which can create a ‘younger, more beautiful, more perfect’ version of its user.

When her younger version Sue (Qualley) misuses the substance, disaster strikes.

The role garnered Moore multiple awards and her first Oscar nomination.

A source has since shared with Page Six that Demi ‘can’t help but feel heartbroken’ following the disappointment.

‘Demi is taking this loss very hard because she felt like this was finally her chance to take home an Academy Award,’ the insider said.

While the source added that Demi is ‘thrilled for Mikey’ and their fellow nominees, not receiving the Oscar was a ‘huge disappointment.’

With Mikey four decades younger than Demi and at the beginning of what will surely be an illustrious career, many were quick to point out that Demi losing to her was much like the plot of The Substance.
