It seems that even members of the Los Angeles Fire Department have no trouble delivering a savage burn on the biggest of stages: the Oscars.
Oscar host Conan O’Brien brought out several members of the LAFD who have spent countless hours fighting the Palisades and Eaton Fires over the past few months.
The brave men and women earned a standing ovation from Hollywood’s elite, as O’Brien thanked them ‘for all that you do,’ on behalf of everyone in Los Angeles.
However, he admitted, ‘there are some jokes even I’m not brave enough to tell,’ asking LAFD captain Eric Scott to, ‘please read what’s in the prompter,’ telling those in the crowd, ‘remember, everyone in this audience has to laugh! These are heroes!’
Scott then read, ‘Our hearts go out to all of those who have lost their homes. And I’m talking about the producers of Joker 2,’ the 2024 Joker sequel starring Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga that was a critical (36% on Rotten Tomatoes) and commercial ($58 million domestic) failure.
The telecast then cut to laughing celebrities like Scarlett Johansson and Colman Domingo, as fans had various reactions to the burn online.

The first Joker film in 2019 was a critical and commercial smash, taking in $335.4 million domestic and $1.078 billion worldwide, the first R-rated film to earn $1 billion.
It also earned a decent 68% Rotten Tomatoes rating, with Joaquin Phoenix winning the Oscar for Best Actor for his portrayal of Arthur Fleck.
A sequel was quickly given the green light, bringing Phoenix back as the Joker and Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn, with the co-stars earning Worst Screen Duo at the Razzie Awards.
The sequel was not as well-received as it’s predecessor, earning just a 31% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, taking in just $58.3 million domestic and $207.5 million worldwide.
