Ariana Grande and her Wicked costar-turned-boyfriend Ethan Slater packed on the PDA during commercial breaks at the 97th Academy Awards in Hollywood on Sunday.
The inseparable pair – who posed outside the Dolby Theatre an hour apart – have never gone red carpet official as a couple despite notoriously falling in love on the London set of the Broadway musical adaptation sometime between December 2022 and July 2023.
Scandal immediately surrounded the 31-year-old pop star and the 32-year-old Spamalot thespian as he was still very much married to his ‘heartbroken’ high school sweetheart Lilly Jay and mother of his two-year-old son Ezra, but their divorce was finalized in September 2023.
‘I really never thought I would get divorced. Especially not just after giving birth to my first child and especially not in the shadow of my husband’s new relationship with a celebrity,’ the 32-year-old psychologist wrote in The Cut last December.
‘I confidently moved to another country with my two-month-old baby and my husband to support his career. Consumed by the magic and mundanity of new motherhood, I didn’t understand the growing distance between us.’
Ariana – who was engaged to Bupkis creator-star Pete Davidson for four months in 2019 – finalized her own divorce from her real estate agent Dalton Gomez in October 2023 after 21 months of marriage.

Ethan was really excited to see Grande’s Oscars opening number with their castmate Cynthia Erivo – which featured a medley of songs including Somewhere Over the Rainbow, The Wiz, and Defying Gravity.
‘I actually haven’t seen it, which is a choice. I’m really excited to see it. I cannot wait,’ Armani-clad Slater gushed to ET on Sunday.
‘The one thing that I will say is to see these two women perform live is… anybody who’s been to any of their concerts, they know those two can deliver in a way that nobody else can. So I’m really excited!’

During the performance, the two-time Grammy winner changed out of one custom Schiaparelli gown for another one featuring 150K sequins and a surprise ruby slipper at the back.
Ariana wound up losing the best supporting actress trophy to Emilia Pérez star Zoe Saldaña and Cynthia lost the best actress trophy to Anora star Mikey Madison.
Wicked received 10 total nominations and won best production design (Nathan Crowley and Lee Sandales) and best costume design (Paul Tazewell).
