Chris Martin was seen arriving at his newly renovated $5M studio on Wednesday, just a short distance from his $14M Malibu mansion, sparking debate over his eco-warrior status.

The Coldplay frontman, 47, who once claimed he wanted to tour in a plane ‘powered by milk,’ was spotted heading to the high-end creative space, which he transformed from a residential property. 

Dressed casually in a loose-fitting outfit with a backpack, the Grammy winner appeared upbeat as he made his way inside.

The studio sits near the Cape Cod-style estate Martin shares with girlfriend Dakota Johnson—a lavish property featuring a swimming pool, H๏τ tub, and home theater, which they purchased in October 2021. 

The expansion raises questions about whether his real estate choices align with his outspoken commitment to sustainability, considering the environmental impact, energy use, and luxury construction involved.

Martin has previously said being environmentally friendly is a decision that ‘makes business sense.’

Speaking on BBC Radio 4 in 2023, he stated: ‘What we’re trying to do is actually not advocate at all but just prove that it makes business sense because that’s where we feel you’ll really get people to change, like “Hey, you can make more money.”’

Coldplay, known for their sustainability efforts, announced in 2019 that they would pause touring until they found a way to reduce their carbon footprint. 

The band later launched an eco-conscious tour, revealing that their latest run had cut emissions by 50 percent compared to their 2016-2017 tour. world tour.

At the time, they claimed a tree would be planted for each ticket sold.

A statement from the band read: ‘When we announced this tour, we said that we would try our best to make it as sustainable and low carbon-impact as possible, but that it would be a work in progress. 

‘That remains true. We don’t claim to have got it all right yet.’

Last month, engaged couple Chris and Dakota, who first started dating back in 2017, looked inseparable on a romantic stroll as they engaged in some rare PDA. 

Their rare sighting together comes nearly a year after a source shut down split rumors between the pair.

In March 2024, an insider told People that the pair had been engaged for ‘years’ but ‘were in no rush to get married.’ 

‘Sure, they’ve had issues and taken breaks in the past, but things are great now,’ they added. ‘They both love their career. They are balancing things the best they can.’ 

More recently, in August 2024, their rep debunked split rumors to E! and insisted they ‘are happily together.’ 

Last year, Martin made a rare remark about his fiancée as he called her one of his ‘best friends’ in an interview with Rolling Stone. 

‘It is important to say that [romantic love] is such a big factor in everything, even though it feels right to keep it precious and private; I’m not denying its power,’ he told the magazine. 

While they have famously kept their romance out of the spotlight, back in 2022, she recalled to Vanity Fair how they met through a friend and ‘never really left each other.’

Additionally, she has spoken about loving his two children Apple, 20, and Moses, 18, who he shares with ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow, with ‘all’ her heart.

‘I love those kids like my life depends on it,’ she told Bustle of how she likes being a stepmom last year.
