Sean Stewart has talked exclusively to DailyMail.com about why he is spending time at a rehabilitation center in California.
DailyMail.com reported on Tuesday that the reality TV star, 44, had checked into the Cliffside Malibu rehabilitation facility.
Stewart has now told DailyMail.com he is happy to confirm that he is seeking the help he needs to become a ‘better person’ and he wants to share his story with other people who are suffering.
Sean has claimed that he is in rehab for trauma, persistent ADHD and childhood issues as he still has feelings of not ‘being enough.’
‘I have struggled with ADHD since I was a kid. I also struggled in school because I had a learning disability, dyslexia, and people called me Stupid Stewart,’ Sean told DailyMail.com.
‘This is something I have been dealing with for many decades and has been very painful, as I am sure many people can understand,’ added the son of rock star Rod Stewart.
Sean has been open about past drug use as he appeared on the second season of Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew, telling the doctor he was in AA.

Stewart wants to face his disorder head on.

‘I am in therapy now, I am focusing on working through the problems,’ said the Sons Of Hollywood star.
Stewart has been on several reality TV shows like Stewarts & Hamiltons, and has a clothing line called Dirty Weekend, but has felt it is not enough.
‘Just because I have struggled with ADHD and dyslexia does not mean that I cannot have a successful life and I am learning how to cope with it now,’ added the son of former model Alana Stewart.
Sean then said he wanted to remind his fans that a lot of people suffer with disorders and being open about it is the best plan.

‘After all, Elon Musk is on the spectrum and he is open about it with his fans and he deals with it, and has been successful,’ said Sean.
When hosting SNL in 2021, Musk candidly revealed that he suffers from Asperger’s syndrome, a kind of autism, in his monologue.
Stewart then said: ‘I appreciate public figures who are honest about what they have to deal with, and I want to do the same.’
The facility that Sean is in has views of the Pacific Ocean. There are plenty of healthy ways to spend time like swimming in the pool, working out at the gym, doing equine therapy, acupuncture and group counselling.
‘I am grateful for this time that I can step away from my businesses so I can work on being a better person for my family,’ Sean also said to DailyMail.com.
‘One day I want to have a family with children and I want to grow into the person I know I can be. I want to be a great dad,’ said the brother of Kimberly Stewart.
‘I am dealing with the pain so I can be more self-confident man,’ he explained.
And he wants his story to help others.
‘I feel it is very important for me to be honest about my situation so I can inspire others to get help and grow stronger. I hope to be a role model for people who need help. I hate to hear about people suffering in silence, it’s heartbreaking, and if my story helps even one person then I am happy.’

Sean has spoken openly about his battles with addiction in the past, and once claimed being the eldest son of rock royalty was a ‘curse and a hindrance’.
Sean previously revealed he was ‘around 13’ and a student at Beverly Hills High School when he first started drinking. He later transitioned to harder drugs including ecstasy and heroin.
‘I would go to parties at that age and drink and smoke cannabis and cigarettes,’ he told the Mail back in 2012. ‘It was very easy for me to get drugs.’
By the time he was 19 he had a fully developed drug habit and an alcohol addiction, and as a result had his allowance cut off and was sent to Meadows, a famous treatment centre in Arizona.
He later overdosed, and in December 2001 was arrested and jailed for 90 days after he pleaded no contest to ᴀssault with a ᴅᴇᴀᴅly weapon on then 19-year old student, Jason Rogland, in the car park of a restaurant in Malibu.
He has since had multiple stints in rehab.
His latest comes months after the breakdown of his whirlwind marriage to Jody, the daughter of American film producer Jerry Weintraub.
Sean has been dating Julia Stambler for the past several months. She is a successful esthetician who owns the salons called SkinSane.
