Diane von Fürstenberg gave her fans quite the shock when she shared an update highlighting a nasty black eye she recently acquired.
The 78-year-old fashion designer posted a selfie to her Instagram on Tuesday that displayed a deep purple bruise surrounding one eye, as well as a slight droop to the affected eyelid.
Fürstenberg had a slightly dazed expression on her face as she revealed her injury to her 463,000 followers.
‘Upon arrival in LA, I fell on the pavement and hit my forehead!’ she confessed in her caption. ‘Does not look good for sure but grateful nothing more serious!!!’
The fashion icon — who was the subject of the documentary Woman In Charge last year — didn’t sound too concerned about the bruise and kept her outlook upbeat.
‘I am owning it, applying lots of arnica gel and happy it was not worse!! Owning it is the secret of survival!’ she added.

Diane — who sported a necklace reading ‘In Charge’ in her first selfie, also posted a second extreme closeup in which she popped her glᴀsses up to zoom in on her black eye.
A source later told Page Six that the designer was injured outside her daughter’s home.
‘She fell on the street in front of her daughter’s house and is fine,’ they shared. ‘She is just very bruised. She is someone who posts daily and owning a fall is part of life.’

Last year, Fürstenberg took a look back at her life and accomplishments in the Hulu documentary Woman In Charge.
After a screening of film at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City, she hilariously compared the experience of watching herself to ‘being at the gynecologist.’
‘I looked like s***. I said I liked wrinkles, but I didn’t realize I had so many,’ she joked.
However, she admitted that she ‘enjoyed’ the film during her chat with Gayle King.
‘At the end, it’s really a tribute to my mom… That’s why I had a big life. My mom wanted me to have a big life,’ she said of her mother Liliane Nahmias, a Holocaust survivor.
